How I Came to Know and Love My Dearest Campbelle It all began at a volunteer appreciation night for our church. The room was buzzing with celebratory excitement when I first met Campbelle. We hit it off right away and began laughing and learning more about each other. We ended up sitting next to each other talking the night away. That was the beginning of the process of rizzing Campbelle up. While we had fun at dinner, life was busy, so nothing came of it in the following months. We continued to run into each other at friends’ houses allowing our friendship to deepen. It wasn’t until New Year’s Eve when we found ourselves at the same party that I felt the grace to ask Campbelle to go on a date. The timing seemed perfect. 21 days of prayer (a daily event at our church) was about to start, so I knew I would run into her in the coming days, or so I thought… As I arrived on day one, I was overcome with disappointment as I scanned the room and didn’t see Campbelle. Surely, she had an emergency breakfast with a friend in distress or was rescuing an orphan puppy out of a ditch that caused her to miss prayer. My disappointment was soon replaced with hope that I had 20 more days to run into her and sweep her off her feet. Day two came and went. The ever-illusive Campbelle was nowhere to be found as I sipped bitter coffee while becoming better acquainted with my new friend Disappointment. Days turned to weeks, and by day twenty-one, Campbelle being in attendance was joining the mythical ranks of bigfoot sightings and winning Auburn football seasons. Disappointment had introduced me to his good friend Despair as I had now concluded that Campbelle must not pray. A couple of weeks later, I ran into Campbelle at church and found out that as a public accountant, she was deeply entrenched in busy season resulting in early mornings that prohibited her from going to 21 days of prayer. Imagine my relief when I found out that Campbelle does in fact pray. All jokes aside, I went on to ask her out the next week and thus was the beginning of the most important relationship in my life outside of walking with the King. Our first date was breakfast at Lady Bird Taco on a brisk February morning. Everything went well as we both enjoyed each other’s company except for the fact that Campbelle didn’t order anything to eat. Her intent was pure, as she wanted to focus on getting to know me, but the ramifications were catastrophic. Nothing throws the rhythm of conversation over a meal off more than one person not eating. What is usually an unspoken dance of asking a question and then taking a bite of food was replaced with multiple instances of Campbelle silently watching me inhale chorizo filled tacos as she patiently sipped her latte. Praise God she still wanted to continue going out! Days turned to weeks as we were able to learn more about each other’s hearts for God and spend lots of time laughing in the process. I went on to ask her to be my girlfriend about a month later. Spring turned into summer as like turned into love for us. Weddings, walks, and hometown trips deepened the depth that we knew each other and as a result increased our love for each other. It was in this season that we blissfully got way ahead of ourselves on the speed which we wanted to get married. As blistering heat gave way to colorful leaves, we got our first taste of how love matures. I was off to ministry school two hours away at the exact same time that we were realizing that the other is not in fact perfect. A fall full of refinement began to show us what Christ-like love looks like. I moved back to Birmingham as winter came. With long distance behind us, we were able to have fun again. We now approached the one-year mark, and I knew that I wanted to marry Campbelle. Her love for God, gentleness, and compassion for others were things I knew I wanted to spend my life with. I knew she would make an excellent wife, partner, friend, and mother to our children. Praise God for Campbelle! We went ring shopping in late spring, but I insisted that we wouldn’t get engaged until August. I snuck out to Dallas on a Tuesday to ask her parents for her hand. Leaving on the 6am flight, I was home in time for dinner with Campbelle, where I talked about how boring work was that day… After such a life-giving conversation with her parents and with the ring hidden in my sock drawer all that was left was the proposal. Coordinating both our families and closest friends without Campbelle knowing was no easy task. After weeks of planning, it was finally here. Right after church, back to where we met. 18 months later in the very same building. I got to propose to my beautiful soon to be wife. Praise God for my little woman. I cannot wait to spend decades coming to know you and love you more deeply. I love you more than you know!

Where are the ceremony and reception? Our ceremony will be held at 3:30 in Reid Chapel at Samford University, followed by a reception at The Farrell in Homewood. Both venues are indoors, with a cocktail hour that will be partially outdoors (weather permitting). Can I bring a plus one? Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate the guests listed on your invitation. The RSVP form will show exactly who is included. We are so excited to celebrate with you! Can I bring my kids? We kindly request an adults-only celebration. We hope you’ll enjoy the evening as a special night out together! What’s the dress code? Formal attire, please. Ladies: Elevated cocktail dresses or long gowns are perfect. Gentlemen: A suit and tie is requested. We kindly ask that guests avoid tuxedos or full length ice-blue dresses, as these are reserved for the wedding party. What if I cannot attend? You will be missed! Please RSVP “no” as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

REID CHAPEL:There will be "Wedding" signs to guide you to Reid Chapel after you pull onto Samford's campus. Additionally, you may follow the directions below:Turn off Lakeshore Drive at Samford’s main gate. Get in the right lane, and turn right onto Montague Drive. Parking for Reid Chapel is located in the first lot on the left. Take the stairs on the northeast side of the lot. Turn left on the sidewalk at the top of the stairs then turn right on the sidewalk in front of the chapel. Reid is the second entrance on the right. There are visitor parking spaces available in the lot.

RECEPTION: Please feel free to park near SoHo Standard which is a brief walk to the reception venue at the Farrell.
