On June 1st, 2016, Canan and I met for the first time! Canan and I shared a mutual best friend that thought we might be a good fit for one another, so she decided to have us meet at a local ice cream shop. We got to the ice cream shop and I immediately realized I forgot my wallet at home, of course! I was so embarrassed. Canan was such a gentleman and offered to buy ice cream for me, but I was way too embarrassed to take him up on his offer.....he still teases me about it to this day!

July 1st, 2016 Canan asked me to be his girlfriend with a sweet, handwritten note! We spent as much time together as we could, but being seniors in high school at different schools and living in separate towns made it challenging sometimes. We both graduated high school in 2017. In the fall of 2017 I started college at Ole Miss to pursue pharmacy school and Canan stayed at home to tend to cattle and attend Northwest Mississippi Community College. It was not easy being in different towns, but I came home pretty much every weekend and we found a way to make it work!

Fast forward 6 years and on October 15th, 2022 Canan asked me to marry him! Of course, I said yes! We knew we would have a long engagement because I wanted to finish pharmacy school before we got married, so we decided that we would get married in 2024. When deciding what date we wanted to get married, I joked around and said "what about June 1st" since that was the day we met. To our surprise, that date landed on a Saturday so we knew that was the perfect day to get married! So on June 1st, 2024, the same date that we met 8 years earlier, I get to marry my absolute best friend and I could not be more excited!
