Our Story

Our Story
We met on Match.com. A couple of e-mails and a few texts. Leading to a phone call we were ready to meet in person. Looking back, it must have been an exceptional phone call. Candace asked me to pick her up at her house, which she had never done before. I decided to take her on a date that would guarantee me another date.
I took Candace to The Rose Tattoo Café. The atmosphere was very reminiscent of New Orleans. The food as well. A Very Romantic table for two on the balcony. After Dinner we went on a horse drawn carriage ride through Society Hill. We let the driver narrate all he knew about the area as we shared a bottle of Caymus wine. We were covered by an Afghan made by my Great Grandmother many years ago (January it was chilly). I brought a disposable camera for her to take pictures along the way but don’t remember her taking any. LOL
After the ride I took her home. Gave her a kiss on the cheek and asked if I could see her again. She said yes. I guess I did well.LOL.
Since that night we have gone on many vacations. There have been many NHRA drag races. Even went through Covid at home together every day with each other. When things got tuff. She was one of the team of four. That took care of Mom when she needed us the most. What an awesome team!
I have known for a while she was the one for me. Raised by old school parents. I have those values instilled in me. I really wanted to ask Candace’s father (Jim) for his blessing before I asked her to marry me. Her parents live in Texas. I had no way of getting there and back without a lot of questions I couldn’t answer. Two months later Candace told me her parents were going on their first cruise. She wanted to sneak on board and surprise them enjoying the cruise together. I said great we should do that. At that point I realized I had just got God’s blessing. Now I need to buy a ring and talk to her father.
As you know, by now she said yes. Since that night at dinner on the ship with her family around and the sun setting on the horizon. She is like a little kid on Christmas Eve full of excitement and imagination. I couldn’t be happier. This has been such an emotional journey. We can’t wait to celebrate our special day with all of you.
