Candace's Perspective:Josh and I technically have two "How We Met" stories. The first was when we met briefly in the fall of 2022, as I was attending an event at APU with some of my friends. Josh stopped by and said "Hi," but we didn’t officially meet until January! In the spring semester, my friends started a weekly Catan game that met every Friday. Josh and I ended up meeting again and bonding over our love for games. This turned into weekly Survivor watch parties. Our friends saw the vision and knew we would be perfect for each other, so they continued to orchestrate game nights and activities for us to both be at. Over the course of the semester, our friendship grew, and in the summer, Josh asked me to get coffee, and the rest is history! Josh's Perspective:On Friday, September 2nd, 2022, I met Candace as I ran into her and some friends on APU's campus. While I thought she was gorgeous, I only introduced myself and briefly chatted before I left. Fast forward to January 2023, I was planning to play Catan with one of her closest friends, Bree, and she stopped by to say hi. After much convincing from Bree and I, she decided to join us, and after our Catan game, I knew I wanted to pursue a relationship with Candace.&nbsp; For the next couple of months, I secretly tried to get closer to her friends to hang out with Candace. Not to my knowledge, her friends also had the same secret agenda, which led them to include me whenever Candace was free to hang out. This led to multiple Catan games, Survivor watch parties, late-night conversations, and in May 2023, I asked her out on a date. A month into dating Candace, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, as she is the most thoughtful woman who loves Christ with all of her heart and is also an absolute goober who is my best friend.

We’ve compiled a list of nearby hotels to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. All of these options are within a short drive from the venue, so you can easily join us for the big day!

Hotel Royal is located in the heart of the East Village Arts District, situated amid an array of art galleries, coffee shops, and unique retailers. They offer bike rentals and are conveniently only three blocks away from the beach!Important Details: This hotel is a 5-minute drive from our venue and offers a wide range of rooms at affordable price points. Parking at the hotel is $18 per night, and, with the exception of the "Royal King" room, all rooms are only accessible by stairs.

If you're flying in, the nearest airport is Long Beach Airport. Several of the hotels listed above offer free shuttle services to and from this airport. For a larger variety of airlines, the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) offers a range of price points for flights. For transportation from LAX to Long Beach, a rental vehicle or a ride sharing service such as Uber would be recommended.

The venue provides a free parking lot for all guests, and while you can technically park anywhere else, this is the safest and most convenient option for everyone. There will be security on the day of the event in the parking lot providing 24/7 coverage. Once you utilize the parking lot, the venue is a 3 minute walk away, If you do not have access to a car and are staying in a hotel, we recommend using rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft as they're often a better option than relying on hotel shuttle services. Hotel shuttles in the area are not reliable or guarantee that they can drop off/pick up from the venue.
