Things to Do
La Jolla Shores
8324 La Vereda, La Jolla, CA 92037, USA
This beautiful beach is part of a marine reserve with crystal clear water. Very beginner friendly waves with surf lessons and kayak tours are available. Bonfire pits, too!
Balboa park is home to renowned botanical gardens, and multiple museums including San Diego Air & Space Museum and the San Diego Natural History Museum. It is also home to the Timken Museum of Art which holds a collection of European and American masters and is free during the week.
If you have the time and wish to take roughly an hour drive north, Temecula Valley is home to some of the best wineries of Southern California. We recommend Weins Cellars or Lorenzi (two of our favorites!) Temecula valley is roughly an hour drive north of La Jolla.
San Diego Zoo or Safari Park
2920 Zoo Drive San Diego, CA 92101
Located near Balboa Park just south of Downtown, the San Diego Zoo is one of the best Zoos in the world and is a great family attraction.
The San Diego Safari Park is a sister location roughly 30 minutes north of La Jolla. They focus on more on open air enclosures. Their “Wings of the World Aviary” is a must see!
Kayaking La Jolla Cove
For those feeling a little more adventurous, the sea caves located around La Jolla cove are beautiful. They are accessible by kayaks which can be rented nearby. June is the beginning of the leopard shark (harmless) migration so there should be tons of them to see in and around the cove.
