Our Wedding

Cara and Andres "met" for the first time in an English class during the second semester of their freshman year of high school. We sat two rows away from one another and never spoke. Three years later, we walked into the same Human Anatomy class to begin the first semester of our senior year. This time, we sat next to each other and quickly developed a close friendship. Eventually, our close friendship became a relationship. Andres officially asked Cara to be his girlfriend on April 3rd, 2016.&nbsp; The summer going into our freshman year of college we both decided to give long-distance a try, despite Andres going to Delaware and Cara going to Michigan State. Neither of us would have guessed where we are now. We survived different schedules, late nights out, Cara studying abroad in Ireland, and truly not knowing the next time we would see each other.&nbsp; Fast forward to January 26th, 2024, 11 years and 20 days after the first day of that English class, Andres asked Cara to marry him. And on August 23rd, 2025, 9 years, 2 months, and 6 days after committing to date long-distance, we will commit to spending the rest of our lives together.

Our Story

We got engaged on January 26th, 2024. For three months, Andres hid the ring from Cara until he was able to decide on the perfect date. On the day of the proposal, in an attempt to prevent Cara from thinking that he was going to propose, Andres told her that they were having dinner with attorneys at a restaurant near their apartment in Fells Point. Andres was certain that Cara would believe him, but he was wrong. In fact, shortly after Andres informed her of this dinner, Cara had a gut feeling that it could happen that night. Two hours before the proposal, Andres' nerves rapidly escalated, prompting him to work out in the apartment gym, which he rarely does. This only increased Cara's suspicion. When Andres returned, Cara could tell something was off based on his increased desire to be on time and leave. We started walking to dinner but took the long way to walk along the water when we finally reached Fells Point pier. There, Andres got down on a knee and asked Cara to marry him. Andres says he blacked out and has no idea what he said to Cara leading up to the proposal. After, we celebrated our engagement with a dinner at the Pendry and a nightcap at Kooper's Tavern.
