We used to joke that we’d come up with a cooler story about how we met but in classic 2021 fashion we met on Tinder. Neither of us were looking for a partner. We were just looking to meet new people. Evan got his first tattoo on the day we matched and I was at work. We started talking right away and never stopped. I was in finals week my senior year of nursing school so it took a couple weeks for us to meet in person. On December 10th, 2021, we met up at Day’s Coffee Shop in the Highlands. I always joke that I knew Evan couldn’t parallel park before I ever saw him (I was behind watching him struggle) but, honestly, I can’t either. We started talking and in two seconds (six hours) the sun was down and they were closing. We didn’t think to go get food together or anything. I met with my friends for supper after and they go, “we can hear the bells already!!” I laughed and rolled my eyes but they were SO RIGHT!
Flash forward three years and we have seen each other through the most incredible ups and downs. We moved into our first apartment in summer 2023 and moved into our house in March 2025. We have our sassy cat Fiona and so many wonderful friends.
Evan organized the proposal with the help of my very best friend Alli and her family. We had a painting party on New Year’s Eve that turned into a VERY BIG surprise proposal. Easiest YES I’ll ever say!
How beautiful it is to love someone so wholly and completely.
How beautiful it is to wake up each day knowing you’re facing this big, crazy world with your best friend.
Those six hours turned into a lifetime and we are so excited to celebrate our love with everyone important to us. We’re ready for the journey to becoming Mr. And Mrs. McCarthy!
Thank you for being a part of it.
