What travel documents do I need?

You only need a passport to go to Guatemala (check the expiration date well in advance!)--no additional travel documents (e.g., visas) or vaccines are required.

How should I get to Antigua, Guatemala?

Fly into Guatemala City Airport (GUA) and then take a 40-60 minute taxi/shuttle to Antigua. To book a shuttle, contact your Airbnb/hotel or message our wedding planner, Carmen. Shuttles through Carmen cost $25 (cash) one way. Carmen can be reached through Whatsapp at +502-3004-2177

What hotel should we stay at?

Hotels recommended by our planner: Pensativo, Porta Hotel Antigua, Casa Santo Domingo, San Rafael, Villa Mil Flores, Las Cruces Boutique Hotel, Cacao Boutique Hotel, Posada del Angel, Hotel Boutique Los Pasos & Spa, Meson Panza Verde, Hotel Eterna Primavera, Good Hotel, Casa Faustina. Airbnbs/VRBOs are very common in Antigua, but make sure they’re within the city limits (see map below).

Is Antigua, Guatemala safe?

Antigua is considered one of the safest cities in Guatemala and Central America and has become a top-rated destination for weddings! However, traveling through any part of Central America has risks. All guests should use caution, keep an eye on personal belongings, and walk in pairs at night. Just like in the U.S., there are less safe spots and very safe spots. Please use your judgment as you travel through Guatemala.

Once I'm in Antigua, what's the best way to get around?

Antigua is a small city that is completely walkable. Enjoy exploring the cobblestone streets and colorful buildings by foot, Uber (yes, Ubers are everywhere), or hop in a Tuk-Tuk!

What kind of things should we keep in mind?

- Guatemala currency: Guatemalan quetzales ($1 is the equivalent of approximately 8 quetzales) -Antigua is a cash town, be sure to grab local currency from your bank before you leave or when you land in Antigua -Bring comfortable walking shoes to explore the town -Be aware of any dress code requirements before entering churches or historic sites

Please feel free to explore hotel/Airbnb accommodations. Below is a map of Antigua. Our wedding venue (Convento Capuchinas) has a pink box outlining the location. The portion of the map highlighted in yellow is the downtown area, which is completely walkable. Feel free to call/text Carla & Shane for suggestions!
