Our Wedding

Carla and Walter have been legally married for over 23 years. Recently, they have decided to fulfill a sacrament by getting married in St. Joseph’s&nbsp;Catholic Church. Not only do they want to live the rest of their lives together, they also want to continue getting busy in the afterlife. (wink, wink) Carla (18 at the time) and Walter (19) first met in the summer of 1996 over the span of three days. The first moment of contact was at Carla's place of employment, PJ's, a men’s clothing store. Walter, looking devilishly handsome went inside to buy a shirt, but stayed a few moments longer to not only admire the clothes, but to check out the beautiful lady behind the register. Who was that fine señorita, you ask? You guessed it…Forever 21 Carla Marin. The following day, Carla was invited by a mutual friend to Walter's house, there they met once again. Walter being the suave, debonair man that he is with an attempt at a smoldering look said, “Heeeeey, you’re that girl who sold me the shirt yesterday.”&nbsp;(Yes, I agree…not very suave or debonairish, but he was 19, so…let’s give this guy some grace.) Carla playing the cool cat that she was back then couldn’t think of a single word to say…you read that right…Miss Chatty Cathy herself couldn’t think of a single word because she was too busy trying to sleekishly wipe the drool that was threatening to make an appearance. In her defense, Walter looked deeeeelicious. Finally, the two bumped into each other on the first day of school at Los Medanos College. Carla was running late to her first day of class and Walter was on his way home. There they got to chit chatting and the next thing you know…they had each other’s pager numbers. Talk about romantical! They enjoyed one another's company a little bit too much and soon welcomed their first baby, Yasmin aka Yazie aka Yaz in October of 1997. The first years of their relationship definitely had its share of trials and tribulations, but somehow their connection was too hard to defy.&nbsp;On December 31, 2001, on a girls’ trip to Las Vegas, Walter followed Carla to Sin City. (Not sure how this is romantic when it has stalker vibes, but if you received an invitation to their upcoming wedding…then you know nothing really makes sense with those two, but somehow they’re just perfect for each other).&nbsp;Back to their story - That night at midnight in the Las Vegas strip, in front of hundreds of people nearby, Walter got on one knee and proposed. Carla excitedly accepted. Walter had one simple request though…he wanted to get married that night. Carla shockingly accepted and both went off searching for a way to get married that night. Although the streets were closed for traffic and crammed with people and both had no clue how to make a wedding/marriage happen…somehow…some way…they experienced a great adventure and managed to make their unity legal at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas at&nbsp;3:40am on January 1st, 2002.&nbsp;Throughout the years, they added to their family. In 2008, they welcomed their only son, Christian and in 2011 had their baby girl, Aliyah. Over the course of their relationship, Carla and Walter have seen one another evolve from passionate, YOUNG spirits into passionate, OLDER spirits. Some things will never change. Walter and Carla have decided to take their relationship to the next level and have their union be recognized in the eyes of the Lord according to the Catholic religion. They would love for you to share this special moment with them. They chose to get married on a Friday because 5/23 is Walter’s actual birthday. What better way to spend his birthday than being surrounded by their family and friends! Hopefully, they’ll see you there dressed in all BLACK!&nbsp;
