Our Wedding

Believe it or not, we first met 13 years ago! We were introduced through mutual friends Danika &amp; Zach, the first weekend Carley had moved to to Denver, Colorado. While we did not date upon initially meeting, we spent the next 8 years individually pursuing our passion for the outdoors and adventure. During that time, Max had moved to Sun Valley, Idaho and Carley was in Golden, CO. In 2021, Carley was going to go on a solo mountain bike adventure throughout the west, including Sun Valley. That is when she reached out to Max to get some trail beta. However, Carley was injured in a wakeboarding accident and didn't make it to Sun Valley on that trip. A few months later, Max reached out as he was coming to Colorado on a work trip to film the X-Games in Aspen, CO. He invited Carley to join, however, she had some previous ski weekend plans with friends. After that, we continued to keep in touch via phone and finally calling each other, until Max came back through Golden, CO where Carley lived and asked her out on a date.

Obviously, that went well! The following weekend Max attended Carley's 30th birthday disco in the desert with a group of Carley's friends. In disco costume and all, he was doing flabongos under the moonlight around the campfire and needless to say, he passed the test. From that point on, we spent weekends in the hot springs of Idaho, mountain biking and living the van life while working remote for a short period of time. The relationship quickly solidified when Max made an impromptu trip to Mexico with Carley's friends and told her on a night walk on the beach that he wanted to be in a serious relationship with her.

Dating long distance for 14 months, we met up in various states around the West and spent many long weekends in the van where our love really grew. We were certainly living our independent dreams, but now together. We often told each other we make such a great team and couldn't wait to finally live in the same state. When Max said he loved Carley on a van trip, the rest was history!

As many of you know, we made the decision to embark on a new adventure together in Reno, NV where we own a townhome, have met some great friends, and have explored the Sierra Mountains as much as we've been able to. Navigating the changes that come from moving to a new place, our relationship has grown only stronger as we've provided each other unconditional love &amp; support through the highs and lows. On a backpacking trip in fall of 2024, that was no joke, 26 miles roundtrip, Max popped the question in one of the most beautiful backcountry hot springs we've ever been to!

Now, the next adventure begins and we are so excited to celebrate our love with all of our favorite people! See you in Tahoe!

Getting there

The closest airport is the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. From that airport Truckee, CA is a 40 minute drive. If you prefer to not rent a car there is a shuttle service:https://northlaketahoeexpress.com The Sacramento airport might offer more direct flights for those coming from the Midwest, about 1.5 hour drive from Truckee.

LODGING

Our wedding venue is 20 minutes north of Truckee, CA. Welcome events and lodging will all be located in Truckee, however. There will be shuttles provided up to the venue.  The hotels listed here are the one's we could get room blocks at (Airbnb's are also an option). However, there are various other hotels, cheaper and more expensive options, aside from these as well.

This is a budget friendly option! A five minute drive into town. You can catch Ubers from here.

There are also several other Hotels, Airbnb's &amp; VRBOs near Donner Lake, if you prefer that style of lodging. This is 6-10 minute drive from downtown Truckee, where the welcome events will occur. Please see "Getting Around" section for your options to get into Truckee without having to drive.

Uber &amp; Lyft are available all throughout Truckee or see below for TART connect information.

TART Connect is a FREE, on-demand shuttle that provides point-to-point rides anywhere within the town of Truckee, there is a pickup near the east side of Donnor Lake and several stops in Truckee. Each TART Connect shuttle seats 6-9 passengers. Vans are wheelchair accessible, just be sure to indicate that upon calling them.

Donner Lake Marina offers paddleboard &amp; kayak rentals daily on a first come, first serve basis. They offer half day and full day rentals.

This is a beautiful alpine lake up towards our venue that is a great place to hang out and they offer FREE KAYAK rentals! Note - there is a a dirt road to get there and would recommend taking a vehicle with more clearance than a sedan.

Kayak or Relax @ Independence Lake

Kings Beach is the closest Tahoe beach to Truckee, CA. Kings beach is larger beach with restaurants and bars and watersport rentals (see link below for rental information). Please note, it can get busy! Nevada Beach is our favorite. This is towards South Lake Tahoe and is about an hour from Truckee. There is a $10 entry fee.

Download the app, All Trails, and type in the search bar Truckee, CA for tons of hiking options in the area. Some of our favorite hikes in the area that are moderate for out of towners include: -incline peak (North Lake Tahoe) -picture rock (North Lake Tahoe) -rubicon peak trail (west shore of Tahoe - this one is more difficult being 4 miles and 2,100 feet of elevation gain), but incredible!

Hiking

Northstar Ski Resort offers a downhill mountain bike park in the summer. They have beginner to advanced trails if youve never mountain biked before. Otherwise if you want to trail ride we have tons of recommendations in the area, just tell us what type of ride you are looking for and we’ll send you some recs!
