Jace &amp; Carli met online in 2020 when Jace was a (bald) "rat" at Virginia Military Institute and Carli was a junior at James Madison University just down the road. Most weekends, Carli would jailbreak Jace from campus, with some lukewarm Jack Brown's burgers in tow, and they'd get ICEEs at 7/11 and talk about their lives. Life took them in different directions for a bit, but in August 2021, they found their way back to each other—this time with real weekends, real visits, and something even more real between them. Their relationship quickly blossomed. They met each other’s families, took road trips, and after Carli graduated from JMU in 2022, they began two years of long distance while Jace finished at VMI and Carli attended grad school in Richmond. Somewhere in the chaos, they adopted their first pet together: a hedgehog named Snoot! 🦔 In May 2024, they graduated—Jace from VMI and Carli with her M.S. from VCU—and hit the road in a moving truck, driving 1,500 miles in two days to start their next chapter in Austin, Texas. A few months (and a few pounds of BBQ) later, they adopted their German shepherd, Ranger, from the Austin Animal Center. Now, a year into Austin life, they’ve built a home filled with love, laughter, and slightly too much pet hair. They love working out, cooking and baking new recipes, playing in their Thursday night intramural kickball league, and exploring Texas on the weekends. Jace works as a highway engineer and serves as a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard. Carli works remotely as an art director in the world of advertising. Life is full, sweet, and always an adventure—just the way they like it.
