Reese and I first met at Nolensville High School. Reese played basketball and I was a cheerleader so we knew of each other but it wasn't until December of 2018 that our paths truly crossed. On the morning of December 13th, 2018 I totaled my car on the way to school flipping into a ditch right in front of Reese. He pulled over, called the police, and helped me out of my car (but Reese likes to say he saved my life :)). Sounds dramatic, I know. But I will forever be thankful for that rainy winter morning.
In March of 2019 Reese finally asked me out on our first real date. We went to SATCO downtown for tacos (of course) and even though he tripped in the doorway and forgot his wallet in the car... I decided I would keep him around. :) Prom night was April 13th which marks the day Reese decided to ask me to be his girlfriend!
Ever since then it has been Reese and Carlie! Reese spent his freshman year at UT until Covid brought him home. After that we both transferred to Tech and spent our college years together there.
On April 13th, 2024 Reese and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. He took me to dinner and we headed back to his house after. Reese told me he wanted to show me the spot he killed his turkey that morning so we pulled into the field and got out of the car. It wasn't until I was standing in the field, surrounded by candles, that I realized just what was going on. Reese got down on one knee and asked me the question I always hoped he would. That night was truly the best night of my life... getting engaged to my high school sweetheart, celebrating with friends and family, and marking the 13th as the beginning of getting to spend forever, together.
