Our Wedding

A few years ago, Carling and Colby met through mutual friends. What started as casual texting soon blossomed into late-night conversations that lasted for hours. As their texts turned into phone calls, they realized that they could not stop thinking of each other. After two weeks of getting to know each other over the phone, they decided to meet in person. Feeling nervous, Carling brought along her friends for backup and met Colby at a Starbucks. As soon as he arrived, her friends unexpectedly abandoned her, leaving her with someone she barely knew. But despite the awkward start, they ended up spending the rest of the evening together. It was during that time that they knew, deep down, that they were going to love each other one day. The two began hanging out regularly, going on dates, and staying connected on the phone whenever they weren’t together. Then, when the world changed and Covid-19 arrived, they were forced to spend even more time apart. But instead of growing distant, they found a way to stay close, keeping their phone calls going day and night—waking up to talk and falling asleep with their phones in hand. By May of 2020, their relationship became official, and they exchanged their first I love yous. From that point on, they spent every free moment together, even though a few hours of distance separated them. Their relationship continued to grow, and in 2022, they made the decision to move in together. They filled their days with dates to hockey games, cozy dinners, and hanging out with friends. Then, in 2023, amidst the busyness of their schedules, Carling got a day off. Colby asked if she wanted to watch the sunrise, and she immediately took the idea and ran with it. She planned their adventure, packed food and drinks, and they set out for a small hike to one of the most beautiful spots in the area. Along the way, they were joined by three otters swimming in the water, and they stopped to take photos of a doe on the trail. When they reached their destination, Carling set up the picnic while Colby took in the breathtaking view. He then asked her to take pictures with him, and though she didn’t expect anything special, as she stepped in front of the camera, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Carling said yes—a moment that would forever change their lives. Now, with the wedding set for October 4, 2025, they can’t wait to celebrate their love with all of their friends and family.

Hi, I’m Jessie and I am the maid of honour. I am the sister of the bride. Carling is my younger sister but growing up always seemed to take the role of being the older one. I used to push all of her buttons and she would always show me who was boss. I also needed her to be the brave one when I was shy and I needed her to be the cook when I was hungry (she has some funny cooking stories she loves sharing). I actually met Colby the day they made their relationship official - guess he needed my approval before making Carling his girlfriend. It takes a special man to love my sister and I applaud Colby for being up for the challenge. She couldn’t have picked a nicer, funnier and more loving guy. Can’t wait for the wedding!!

My name is Charlie and I have the honour of being a co-best man for two of the most lovely people I’ve had the privilege of knowing. Colby and I practically grew up together, living only a few streets away going to the same elementary, high school and college. We also lived together in Ottawa. Carling entered into the picture while Colby and I lived in Ottawa (more story’s to come). I’m very happy that I get to be apart of this beautiful family and I’m excited to create more stories with them in future

Hi, I’m Victoria, Carling’s other sister. While we may not have the same parents we are practically family. I’ve known Carling for over 20 years which is so crazy to think about. We were raised in the same neighbourhood, hanging out all the time through childhood, teen years and now into adulthood. Even though we live 5h apart for most of the year each summer we hang out like we’ve never been apart. It’s only a true friendship that lasts this long and I’m so glad to have Carling as a “sister”. 
I’ve known Colby for almost as long as Carling has, I was there for their first date. From the day I met him I knew that he was special. His patience and his character were perfect matches for Carling. I’m so happy that they have found each other, I know they both make each other so happy, while also just being great partners for going through life.

My name is Jacob and I am a co-best man at the wedding for these two amazing people. I met Colby when we were in grade 9 and we have been friends ever since, I met Carling 4 years ago after Colby and I moved in together and we have all had some amazing times together. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for them.

Hello! I am Cara one of Carlings bridesmaids. Carling and I have been in each others lives for as long as I can remember complimenting each others weirdness since day one. Whether it was our daily picnics sitting on Carlings cult blanket, or our many impulsive hair changes she has always welcomed me and my ideas with open arms. From the second Colby entered Carlings life, they fit together perfectly. I couldn’t have imagined a better match for Carling. He has always been a comforting presence in not only Carlings life but mine as well. I am forever grateful to have this beautiful couple in my life.

Hi, I’m Trevor McDowell and I’m a part of the groomsmen for Carling and Colby’s wedding! I’m 20 years old and I’m from Bancroft. I’ve known Colby for a couple years now and he’s always a highlight of my returns to Bancroft. We’re both pretty calm and both love hockey. I guess I also know Carling. My whole life minus a couple months Carling has been there like another sister. One of my favourite things about Carling is Colby. Another, is that she always stays in touch and always stops in to say hi even if she just walks in our door during dinner. Can’t wait for October 2025!

Hi there! I'm Bella and I'm a bridesmaid in the wedding of these 2 beautiful people. Carling and I's friendship started a few summers back when we worked together at a kids camp. We hit it off right away and our friendship has been growing stronger ever since. Colby came along not too long after and we bonded over our love for Carling. Turns out we actually have somethings in common too, minus who we think cheers for the better hockey team.

Hi, I’m Adam and I’m a groomsman! I grew up a few doors down from Colby, we met at just 4 years old. He instantly became my best friend and many of my great childhood memories include hanging out with him, watching TV / WWE, jumping on the trampoline, and comparing the Oilers and Senators. I moved to Winnipeg during high school, so I unfortunately haven’t been able to spend much time with Carling, but when I visited and had the pleasure of seeing her, I have been able to tell what a wonderful person she is. I’m so happy for Colby & Carling and I am very proud to be part of this wedding!

Hi! I’m Avery, and I’m so honoured to be a bridesmaid for Carling and Colby on their special day! I’ve known Carling for most of my life—our families met way back in our early gymnastics days and have been inseparable ever since! Growing up, Carling was always like a younger sister to me. We’ve shared countless laughs, memories, trombones, and, of course, our fair share of sisterly fights! Watching Carling grow over the years and find her perfect match in Colby has been amazing. Seeing the love these two share brings me so much joy, and I couldn’t be more excited to stand by them as they take this next step in their relationship!

My name is Skylar Jenkerson, and I have the honor of being Colby’s brother and a groomsman in his wedding party. Colby and Carlings special day is coming soon, and I couldn’t be happier for them. Growing up with Colby has been one of the great treasures of my life, he’s not only the coolest brother I could ask for, but he’s also one of the most caring people I know. Seeing him find someone as wonderful as Carling has been amazing, and I am beyond grateful to welcome her into our family. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for these two incredible people.

I’ve know Carling since we were little starting gymnastics together, we bonded like siblings that hated each other (if you know you know) and just never left each others sides. As for Colby, I don’t even remember the first time meeting him, it honestly feels like he’s been in Carling’s life forever and they are perfect for each other

Hey everyone! I’m Nevin Toll, I’m excited to be a groomsman on this special day. I met Colby and Carling during our time at Algonquin College. Colby and I were paired up for a project, and we quickly hit it off as friends. What started as casual chats at school turned into going to the driving range and the rink in between or after classes. Shortly after, I had the pleasure of meeting Carling, and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them!

The venue where the reception is being hosted has offered their property to anyone who has a camper trailer/RV.
