Liz and Carlos met the modern way: by swiping right. Carlos was working in Dilley, Texas. Liz was 84 miles away in Laredo. By the time Liz commented on Carlos’s status, “looking for a serious relationship,” Carlos was already 1956 miles away back in New York. Despite the distance, they decided to continue the conversation and get to know each other.

Through conversations, they learned that distance was not the only high number at the beginning of this relationship; Carlos had two kids, Liz had three, and soon they would become a family of 7. Their family grew to 8 when their latest addition was born in December 2022.

Carlos’s proposal came on Christmas Eve. The ring hanging on the Christmas tree as Liz looked for her Christmas present, a bit confused. When she finally found it, she had no choice but to say “YES.”
