We are so excited to celebrate our wedding weekend with you all! Please pack for the outdoors and be prepared for fluctuations in weather. Bug spray, sunscreen, a hat, warm layers, rain gear, and a flashlight could all come in handy. Remember to bring swim wear for canoeing/swimming and shoes for laser tag if you plan to partake!

What to Expect at a Camp Wedding

When Carly Ann and Jake envisioned their wedding day, they decided that the most important thing was all of us being together. Jake and Carly Ann both went to camp as kids and wanted to recreate the feeling of togetherness and fun from the good old days. They are so excited to share that with their friends and family at their wedding. That's why they are inviting everyone interested and able to stay at the camp with them. A camp is a perfect wedding location (in their opinion) for many reasons, mainly that a lot of people can stay on site, and the rustic setting of the camp leads us all to be a little less vain, a little more chill, and a little more connected. If you know Jake and Carly Ann, you know they both have always marched to the beat of their own drum. (If you don't know Jake and Carly Ann, why are you reading this?)True to their leftist hippie do-gooder selves, the happy couple is critical of the ways that fast fashion, social media, and hyper-consumption have influenced wedding culture, and they are not so interested in participating. They invite you to come to their wedding weekend simply as yourself. Being together in the woods is more important to us than if your hair is blow-dryed or your suit jacket is steamed. Ceremony dress code is Garden Party Casual. Don't know what that means? Neither do we. Carly Ann made it up. Your favorite sun dress or khakis should work just great. A Camp Wedding? 

Join us for the laid back camp wedding weekend of our dreams! We will be keeping things somewhat non-traditional; think Woodstock meets family reunion. We invite you to embrace the outdoorsy vibes and stay with us at Camp Lakotah Friday and Saturday night -- there are various cabin options, tent sites, and RV spots keep everyone a happy camper (or glam-per)! If you already know that a tent or camper is your preferred arrangement, please email Carly Ann at brauncarly@gmail.com (it's very helpful info when planning out cabin assignments). We know a cabin vibe isn't for everyone, so we have a hotel block nearby and there are a ton of Airbnb options in the area.

We will be spending our wedding weekend at Camp Lakotah, located at N1875 21st Avenue, Wautoma, WI 54982. The nearest major airports are O'Hare (~3 hour drive) and Midway (~3.75 hour drive) in Chicago, and Minneapolis-St. Paul Int'l (~4 hours drive). Nearby smaller airports include Milwaukee Mitchell Int'l (~2 hours drive), Green Bay Austin Straubel Int'l (1.5 hour drive), and Appleton Int'l (1 hour drive). Parking is available at the camp for overnight and day visitors (aka. everyone!) Hotel information will be available soon on our acomodations page!

Welcome to camp! Your GPS should get you to the camp just fine, but driving instructions are also available on the travel page. If you are staying at camp Friday night, you are welcome to arrive as early as 4pm to get set up and settled in before dark. However, dinner is not provided Friday night (except for the rehearsal dinner attendees) so we encourage anyone coming in Friday afternoon to head into town for dinner and then meet back at the Camp for the welcome bonfire at 8pm. If you're staying at a local Airbnb or hotel, we'll see you at 8pm for the bonfire.

Join us in enjoying all the fun that Camp Lakotah has to offer. BREAKFAST We're kicking things off with a complementary breakfast in the camp dining hall Saturday morning. SWIMMING The water front will be open TBD-TBD. We can only swim or canoe when lifeguards are on duty so the Brauns are paying for them to be there so we can enjoy the water. LASER TAG Laser tag info TBD. Dana Braun insists we do this. GAME ROOM Enjoy the game room throughout the day. Old friends, cousins, kids, and everyone in between is welcome to enjoy the game room. Ping pong, Carpet ball, foosball, and air hockey. LUNCHJoin us for lunch at the pavillion See your RSVP for details

Plan A is for the ceremony to be outside, seating will be wooden benches. Plan for the weather, feel free to bring an umbrella if you're sensitive to sun, although there is some tree cover. If there's rain the ceremony will move inside.

Reception and dinner will follow the ceremony in the Friendship Lodge (dining hall). Live band and dancing after that! There will be an open bar, bring cash to tip the bar tenders.Late night pizza, s'mores and bonfire after!
