We are so excited to celebrate our special day with all of you! We do understand that having a destination wedding abroad is a lot to ask of our friends and family so we are hoping to provide as much information as possible to help make attending the wedding possible for as many of you as we can. In this section we have included some common questions regarding the wedding day, but we have also included some extra information regarding flight options, tips, important information to know about travel between the US and Ireland in the travel section of the website so please check there as well. If you have any questions that haven’t been answered here please do not hesitate to reach out to us and ask.
When and where will the wedding take place?
We will be holding our wedding ceremony at St. Mochta’s Roman Catholic Church at 1:00 PM on Tuesday April 29, 2025. The reception will follow at Luttrellstown Castle, just down the street from the church beginning with welcome cocktails at 3:00 PM. Transportation will be provided the day of the wedding to and from the castle and castleknock hotel and from the church to the castle. We are currently working on booking transportation and will provide pick up times once we have those arrangements.
What is the dress code?
Our wedding will be black tie optional. Men are encouraged to wear a tuxedo, but can opt for a dark suit. Women can choose either a formal evening gown, long cocktail dress, or dressy separates. Ladies, if you would like to wear hats or fascinators it is more than welcome. As for colors, it is a spring wedding so light, bright colors such as pastels are encouraged, but black is timeless and always acceptable. Naturally, whites/ivory tones are the only colors that will be off limits. In case anyone is concerned about wedding party colors, they will be in sage green and navy.
What is the policy regarding children?
While we love your little ones, we have decided to keep the wedding strictly adults only (21+). We hope that the wedding will be a nice opportunity for parents to have a trip away for themselves to relax and enjoy the festivities, and that we have given enough notice for everyone to make any necessary child care arrangements.
Can i bring a plus one/additional guests?
We hope everyone can understand how much work and expense goes into planning a wedding. For this reason, if your invitation does not specify that a plus one has been given to you, we ask that only those named on the invitation attend the wedding.
How/when should I RSVP?
Once we have sent formal invitations out, we will open the RSVP portion of our website. Please use this to RSVP for the wedding so we can gather all of the necessary information we need to accommodate everyone in one place. Please ensure you RSVP no later than the deadline provided on the invitation. We will need to give our final numbers to our vendors by that time. Any guests that have not sent an RSVP by that date will unfortunately have to be considered to be not attending, as we will not have a way of accommodating unexpected guests.
Where are you registered?
If you wish to send a gift, we are registered at Amazon, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, and Sur La Table. Since the wedding will be in Ireland we ask that any gifts be sent to our home. Links for our registries are in the registry section of this website.
Will there be options for dietary restrictions?
We will be having a plated dinner service and are more than happy to accommodate any dietary needs. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies please let us know with your RSVP so we can ensure catering is able to accommodate your needs.
What accommodations are available for guests?
We will be reserving a block of rooms at the Castleknock Hotel located just minutes away from Luttrellstown castle. The hotel is about 30-40 minutes away from Dublin Airport and the city center, 3 minutes from the church, and 8 minutes away from the castle. There are also several other hotels in the area that are plenty close to the castle. Please note that while day of transportation will be available to everyone between the church and the castle, before and after the wedding transportation will only be provided to/from the Castleknock hotel. We have listed the addresses and information for all of these hotels in the travel section of the website.
What transportation will be provided?
For transportation to and from the airport you can either take a traditional taxi, Uber, or similar to Uber is a local app called freenow, or a rental car if you feel you would like one. Taxi, Uber, and freenow cost around €28-36. If you opt to rent a car, please bear in mind that the Republic of Ireland drives on the left side of the road and this can be challenging and stressful for some. There will be parking available at the hotel, church, and castle.
The day of the wedding we will be providing transportation to and from the hotel and between the church and the castle. We will include more details regarding shuttle times and frequency once we have those details available.
What is the timeline for wedding day?
The wedding ceremony will be held at St. Mochta’s church and will begin at 1:00 PM. We ask the guests arrive to the church no later than 12:30 PM. shuttles from the hotel to the church will begin at noon. This is a Catholic wedding service so this will be around an hour ceremony.
Welcome cocktails will begin at Luttrellstown Castle at 2:30 PM, followed by dinner and dance reception at 5:30 PM. The festivities are expected to run in true Irish fashion, meaning the party will go on into the wee hours of the night. Therefore, late night snacks will be provided.
What are my flight options? Customs information?
We know this is going to be the biggest part of your planning for this trip so we have taken the time to research some information regarding travel requirements, customs, flight options, and price averages to help you plan. Please refer to the travel section of the website for flight information.
What will the weather be like?
As the saying goes, “in Ireland, if you don’t like the weather, just wait 10 minutes.” It does rain a lot in Ireland but fortunately it’s usually not too bad and doesn’t last for too long. Most rainy days in spring mean on and off rain so you shouldn’t have too much worry about being stuck inside all day long. It certainly doesn’t rain everyday but it is the spring, so much like anywhere else it’s safe to be prepared for some during your stay. Temperatures in the end of April/early May can range from an average high of 55-60°F and a low of 39-43°F.
For wedding day, the weather won’t be much of a concern since the ceremony and reception will all take place indoors but it may still be wise to pack an umbrella to get to and from locations, and in case you would like to enjoy the grounds of the castle.
Will my phone work?
Everyone cell phone plans are going to be different and offer different services regarding international usage. Some phone plans include free international service with some limits on data, while others might charge a daily flat fee for unlimited call text and data. I would recommend checking with your phone provider what your Plan includes regarding international service. It is also worth looking into an eSIM, even if you have some manner of international services included in your phone plan, sometimes the eSIM can be cheaper, or have better data service than what you have included. It is worth researching what your best options are but most phone plans include some type of international service. No matter what service you have included in your plan, it is always recommended to connect to Wi-Fi whenever possible to conserve your dadta. If you do not have unlimited, Wi-Fi is available in most places so this usually isn’t difficult.
Do i need to convert my money?
The Republic of Ireland is part of the EU and therefore uses the Euro for currency. While it is generally a good idea, and the cheapest option, to convert some cash to euros with your bank prior to leaving the US, you don’t have to if you don’t want to. If you do choose to convert money after arriving into Ireland, it is recommended that you pull cash out of an ATM from a local bank rather than, the currency conversion ATMs. These typically come with very high fees that are more expensive than the fee to use a different bank ATM. It is generally recommended that you have some amount of cash on you, as you will find often times there are some restaurants and bars that only take cash. This can also help you avoid racking up any foreign transaction fees if your card doesn’t waive those. It is also usually a good idea if you don’t travel often to alert your bank of your travel plans so that they do not shut off your card while you are abroad.
What type of plug adapter do I need?
While the Republic of Ireland is a part of the EU, almost all hotels and businesses use the UK type plug. So when you are buying adapters for your phones, computers, iPads, etc. please make sure that you are getting one with a UK plug, or an adapter set that includes the UK plug. Please also be aware that not all plugs. Adapters are power converters. The voltage used in the EU and UK are different than what is used in the US. This isn’t such a big deal for phones and iPads, but if you plan on using any hairdryers or tools, anything more powerful like that, you will need an adapter that also converts the voltage. All hotels offer hairdryers anyway so I wouldn’t be too worried with packing that.
