Carly's Perspective:

It was the evening of March of 2017 when Carly came to find her wonderful twin sister fast asleep in bed. Paige was not in the mood to hit the town, but Carly was ready to go to one of her favorite bars in DC, Wonderland Ballroom, with a few friends from work and wanted her sister to come too. After much begging, Paige finally gave in and said tiredly, "Fine, I'll go out." It was that night that would change forever - Carly would meet her dream man, Jon.

Carly and Paige were having fun with friends dancing on the first floor of Wonderland Ballroom, when Carly spotted two tall men in the corner of the room. She whispered to Paige, "Hey, look to your right in the corner. Those guys are really cute and tall!" Paige agreed and said that they should wait for the guys to come over to them.

Then, a Queen song started and Carly looked to her left and saw Jon approaching. "Be cool, be cool," she whispered to Paige. Then, Jon said hi to Carly and was singing some of the Queens lyrics (Carly was impressed because this was not Bohemian Rhapsody and he still knew all of the words!) He told her his name was Jon and then the two talked the rest of the night about travel (it was that moment that Jon introduced Carly to 'Scott's Cheap Flights'), what they did for work, their hobbies and their families. Carly thought Jon was so different than any other guy she had ever met - a true gentleman who was goofy, smart, outgoing, humble, genuine and a world traveler. Someone she had always hoped to find.

That evening, on the way out of the bar, Jon gave Carly his coat to walk to her friend's car (she forgot hers at home and it was freezing out) and they exchanged numbers - their lives together took off from there. <3

Jon's Perspective:

True story: The night I met Carly at Wonderland Ballroom (not a real ballroom, but a fun neighborhood bar in Columbia Heights) I had driven into DC from another date in Northern Virginia. After meeting Carly, I completely forgot about the other lady! Brendan and I walked over to Wonderland Ballroom from his house at the time, and we were on the ground floor with a drink just catching up and yes, maybe looking out for pretty ladies. I spotted Carly from the corner of my eye and went up to talk to her. To be honest, I don’t remember exactly what I said because I just found myself thinking how pretty, fun, and interesting she was! I also saw how grounded and genuine she was. I was captivated. There was a Queen song playing and we started talking about how we each like to travel, and in my head I’m thinking “another box checked!”.

The years have flown by since then. We’ve traveled the world together (India, Amsterdam, London, Cayman Islands), got a puppy together (Scooby!), and gotten engaged. Carly is my best friend and I consider myself a lucky man to be marrying her! Here’s to forever!!
