The story of how we met of course is a little different from those that have meet today such as using dating apps, for example hinge, tinder, bumble, or even grinder. No, we meet the old fashion way when one does meet a future partnership for introverts…. We meet at work.
So that is how this love story began. Ironically enough this situation was something that neither one expected. As we know our knight in shinny armor has his favorite quote when he describes himself
“I grow on a person…like a rash.”
That is very true in this case. Of course, our Bride really did not want this situation at all, because well……. that’s how her parents meet, and she still works there too at the same job…....
Which is the California Conservation Corps.
That is the short answer of it all and of course while reviewing this our groom;
Nic- “Looks good were done right?” would like to stop there.
(I’ll embellish though, since our guest are traveling for this day)
Yes we meet at work, and worked together on the same trail crew for a while, then I, Carly, got accepted to join another program called the Backcountry Trails, I would be living in the woods and not see civilization for six months, nor can leave the campsite here in the Trinity Alps, this is when out of all the time we had together… Nicholas Howard decided to ask me out…. The girl he liked is gonna run to the mountains and never see him again that is when he will decide to ask me out……
(Please reference Nic’s Best Man/our best friend Josh James for more information, if you would like some other juicy details, or our former crew mates who are also attending today’s ceremony, or even better our old boss Aric Anderson)
Through this time, we wrote letters to each other and Nic, even visited too while I was away. Even with the distance our partnership became something more, and we got to go on different adventures with each other, such as traveling to Six Flags, ice cream excursions late at night during Covid, pottery classes, hanging pictures for my mom at her house, then started planning a future with each other that became more serious, but didn’t feel rushed, and within time on our five year anniversary we took a trip to Eureka to meet Nic’s Aunts and had a wonderful visit with them.
We got to go to our favorite spot, which was one of our first major trips together when we started dating, which was Trinidad Beach.
The day was perfect (at least according to us) it was overcast, slight rain drizzle, at the beach with gorgeous redwoods cascading around us, and not a person in sight. It was magical and very unexpected, he got on his knee and proposed, and I said "Yes!!!"
Nic- “Technically though you did say No at first.”
Carly- “Yes, but I was so shocked, I couldn’t tell if you were serious or not!!”
That in a nutshell is the Love Story…
