Our Wedding

A Swipe, a House, and a Baby: that escalated quickly! 

In the digital world of Tinder, Carmem and Gijs swiped right on fate in April 2021. Gijs, as a true Dutch man, scheduled the first date three weeks in advance (with a timeslot of 2 hours, of course). Against all odds and questionable profiles (Gijs mentioned he likes cooking?! and Carmem mentioned to be at least more than 155cm?!), their paths crossed in the most modern of ways. Carmem set off to Voorburg to meet Gijs, all the while chatting endlessly with her family on the phone. Meanwhile, Gijs stood patiently in the rain, holding an umbrella. Little did he know that his future bride had a tendency for long and loud family calls. Over delicious food (home cooked, of course) and some caipirinha, they quickly bonded over a passion for food, travel, nature, family and bad jokes.&nbsp; Things got serious when they bought a house together in Heiloo and moved in September 2022. From moving boxes in a tiny Peugeot (see picture), to choking on a fish bone during their first meal in the house, to having to deal with somebody's mess frenzy and and somebody's label frenzy, they turned it into their cozy home. On March 21st, 2024, their first son Pieter was born. From that day, they realised that the house missed a smell of poop and puke as a final touch. After a small sewer problem, it turned from their house into their home. Sleepless nights, poop explosions, sweaters full of puke and endless lists of stuff to bring for an always hungry Pieter, made them grow even closer. After some reminders from Carmem's side, Gijs finally found the courage to propose, in front of a cozy fireplace in Ibitipoca in Brazil. And from a rainy Tinder date to a life full of messy moments, here they are, ready to embark on the next chapter and celebrate with loved ones!

Just remember: what happens on the dance floor, stays on the dance floor.&nbsp;👋12:00AM - Midnight Marvels Send-off As the clock strikes midnight, let's say good bye (it can take a while, as we have seen with our families ;D).
