If you ask Carody, it was Adam that made the first move. If you ask Adam, it was Carody.. But our first move was slapping the other with our phone. What a romantic way to meet, right?
We met when we were in high school and instantly became best friends, we were inseparable. We spent as much time together as we could, and eventually we ended up dating.
When Carody went to college and Adam was a junior in high school we went our separate ways for a little bit, but we couldn't seem to stop being friends. After two years of being best friends, we ended up getting back together in May of 2017.
We have been attached at the hip ever since. Adam attended Morningside College in the fall of 2017, and Carody transferred in the spring of 2018.. And may we add, Carody did not follow him there.. haha. Certain circumstances presented the opportunity to transfer and Carody took it.
Carody graduated in May of 2020, and moved down to Bentonville, Arkansas. Adam still had one year left in school, so we did over a year of long distance. It was tough, but we obviously got through it!
Adam graduated in May of 2021, we moved in together in the following July, and Adam started school at KU Law in August.
After 9 months of living together, Adam finally popped the question everybody was waiting for... and Carody said HECK YEAAAAA!
I should have known Adam was going to propose this day, but he actually caught me by total surprise!!
Every year on our anniversary we get couple pictures done with my mom, so getting pictures was going to be super easy for Adam, lol..
We had made plans to go down to NW Arkansas to see my family in early March, and we decided we might as well go ahead and take our couple pictures then. A week or so went by and I was chatting on the phone with my mom and she mentioned something about dressing really nice for pictures because we hadn't done something like that before. I was all in!
Now *here* is the moment I should have known something was up.. A week or so later, Adam says almost the same thing, "lets get dressed all fancy and stuff for these pictures, I think they would look really cool!" I was like, "that is so funny because my mom said the same thing. Y'all must just think alike!"
We got down to Arkansas and I was sad because I was under the assumption that our day to take pictures, Sunday, was going to get rained out and we already had planned all of Saturday out. My mom suggested we do it at 2 pm and I started to argue about it... imagine that? LOL.
We get ready to leave and my mom tells my dad and brother to get ready to meet up with us in a little bit for some updated family photos, and they're like okay! I should have known, AGAIN, that something was up.. With the way my dad was looking at me before I walked out the door. :')
Adam, mom, and I all go out to get our photos done and we are just having a fun time! My mom said something about single portrait shots and I was all about it, all I could think of was how I needed a new Facebook profile picture. But then mom told me that the lighting wasn't working and that I needed to turn around.. and BOOM, Adam was on one knee.
Now from here on it is a bit of a blur for me. I know I said yes though! Adam said I kept backing up, hahaha.. very typical response from me. I look up on the bridge and my dad, brother, and both of Adam's parents are on the bridge behind us.
After we all got in our hugs, shed tears, yada yada yada.. we went out for some celebratory margaritas!
Don't you just love, love?
