Will and Caroline are technically high school sweethearts… but with a twist. Despite spending all four years together in marching band (literally marching in sync), they didn’t really get to know each other until after their senior season. Sometimes love takes its sweet time—and a good tuba section.

The spark truly started in the most unexpectedly adorable setting: board game club. Yes, between rounds of Connect Four and Uno betrayals, they discovered they made a pretty great team. Caroline was the one who made the first move—inviting Will to prom “just as friends.” (Spoiler alert: they didn’t stay just friends for long.)

After a few more hangouts and one particularly brain-frying AP BC Calculus test, Will officially asked Caroline to be his girlfriend on May 9th, 2022. Calculus may have been complicated, but this part of their story? It just made sense.

College meant they had to learn the art of long-distance love—Caroline headed to EKU and Will stayed in Louisville at U of L. They spent years turning small moments into big memories: movie nights over FaceTime, road trip reunions, and learning that true love can thrive even when your zip codes don’t match.

But now, after years of countdowns and “I miss you” texts, they finally get to live in the same city—and never have to say goodbye on Sunday nights again. Their story is proof that sometimes love finds you in the middle of a marching field or over a board game table... and once it does, it’s absolutely worth holding onto.
