Q + A

When should I arrive and leave for the weekend?

The first event of the weekend will be on Friday afternoon. However, we will be at the beach house all day on Friday so if you're in town earlier then please come by! We're also inviting our guests to join us for a casual brunch the morning after the wedding on Sunday at our beach house. We will be at the beach house all day on the Sunday and would love it if you'd like to join for as much or little time as suits your schedule.

When should I book accommodation?

Wrightsville Beach accommodation is typically available to book ~11-12 months in advance. Whilst early May is not the high season, we'd recommend that you look to book as soon as possible to get the best choice. Most places offer free cancelation, so there's no reason not to lock something in. If you would prefer to stay in a hotel downtown, there are many options and these are unlikely to book up significantly in advance.

When should I arrive to the ceremony? Will there be transportation provided?

From 3pm on the Saturday you can join Ben at a location TBC near the wedding venue for a pre-ceremony drink. The ceremony begins at 4:30pm so you should arrive 15 minutes early to ensure a smooth start. We have arranged transportation to take people from the reception to the after party at our beach house. However, you will need to arrange your own transport to the pre-ceremony drinks (Uber or pre-booked taxi), which will be a short walk from the wedding venue.

What's the after party?

Due to a city noise ordinance, the reception must end at 10pm which is common for weddings in the US. To keep the party going a little longer we're hosting an after party at our beach house (inc. transport from the reception), for those who would like to continue the celebrations.

Can you clarify the dress codes?

The welcome party should be smart summer wear, ie sundresses or jumpsuits with heels or sandals for women and chinos (trousers or shorts) with button up shirts or polos for men. The wedding day is semi-formal, ie cocktail style dresses/jumpsuits with heels for women and suits for men. Sunday brunch is 'come as you are' whether that be what you'll be travelling in or bathing suits for the beach if you're hanging around longer with us.

Will the wedding be inside or outside?

The venue is a courtyard garden in the heart of downtown. The ceremony area is outside and uncovered, cocktail hour is inside (with AC), and the reception area is outside and covered. There will be access to all 3 areas throughout the night.

When do I need to RSVP and what's the best way to let you know about my dietary restrictions?

We will send out formal invitations 3 months before the wedding date where you can RSVP via this website to each event individually. There will also be an option to disclose any dietary requirements at that time. That being said, we would recommend booking accommodation and flights before the formal invitation.

Can I bring my kids?

We would love for our guests to be able to join us for the entire weekend. Whilst children can attend the Welcome Party (Friday) and the Brunch / Beach Day (Sunday), children won't be able to attend the wedding on Saturday. As Caroline's family live in Wilmington, if you need any assistance helping to find childcare for the Saturday, please let Caroline and Ben know and we will help with arranging this.

What will the weather be like?

Early May in Wilmington is likely to be between 65 - 80 F (18 - 26 C) throughout the night/day and sunny, but please check the weather closer to the time.

When should I book my flights from the UK?

At the time of writing this (early June), the flights for May 2024 have not yet been released, but we expect flights to be released during the course of June 2023. Flight prices can vary depending on where you are flying from and to, with little in the way of clear tactics for getting the cheapest flight. Therefore, it is difficult for us to give an exact answer. Based on what we have seen recently, it may be possible to purchase a return flight from Manchester or London to Wilmington with one / two layover(s) for circa £500 - often with American Airlines offering the cheapest options. Please regularly monitor flights over the coming weeks / months, with a view to booking if you see a good price.
