Our Wedding

Alex and I first met at JBU. Alex was a sophomore and I was a freshman. It was second semester and my friends and I were going bowling. One of the guys asked if his roommate Alex could join us. Of course we said yes. At the bowling alley, Alex and I were on the same team, but exchanged little words. However, after bowling we went to play games. The game was One-Night Werewolf (very similar to the game Secret Hitler…I promise it is not as weird as it sounds) and the objective was to try and figure out everyone’s identity to catch the werewolves by conversing with one another. Not even 5 minutes into the game, I say something and Alex looks me straight in the eyes and blurts out, “You’re the tanner.” With me being a terrible liar, my face turned bright red and I was out of the game. Later on down the road I discovered that Alex was just really good at board games and reading people, but in that moment I was so caught off guard by this guy I just met calling me out like that; I was flustered, yet intrigued. After that night Alex and I encountered each other at more hang outs, but it was not before long that we were sent home early from school and that was that. Fast forward to the next school year and JBU decided to combine all of our breaks into one big winter break. About halfway through the month of March, Kacey decided to create a mini spring break and invited us to go to Colorado. Five of us went, Alex and I included. We left for Colorado after class that afternoon and we were determined to drive through the night. It was around 2 am and it was time to switch drivers. Alex hopped in the driver’s seat and I got in the passenger seat because I knew I would be too worried about traveling to fall asleep. While the other three were asleep in the back, Alex and I spent the next 3 hours listening to Kendrick Lamar (Alex’s artist of choice) and talking. Some time on that trip between the car ride there and arriving back at JBU something changed. Following Colorado, Alex and I began texting. I was over at the guys townhouse quite often before, but it got to the point where it was just Alex and I hanging out. By this time it was the middle of April and Alex asked me out on a date, very strategically I might add as he made sure not to tell me when to come over so he could pick me up from my dorm. For our first date, Alex took me to 28 Springs in downtown Siloam Springs and then we went back to his place to make fried oreos and watch a movie. Lets just say I was on cloud 9 for days. Before the semester ended, we went on one more date, then went home for the summer. Over the summer we traveled to Dallas and OKC to see each other and meet our families. When we got back to school, Alex officially asked me to be his girlfriend in September 2021 and told me he loved me the following New Year’s Eve. On Christmas Day 2022, Alex asked me to marry him. What I thought was a very fancy Christmas dinner turned out to be a Christmas I will never forget. I showed up to dinner at my Aunt and Uncle’s house and walked into a fairytale with my sweet Alex Hamilton standing with a rose in his hand and ring in his pocket. Of course I said YES and the wedding planning began. Throughout our time together, we have spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and baking, watching movies, and driving miles and miles to see one another. Alex is currently geting his Masters in I/O Psychology at Texas A&amp;M and will graduate in December 2023. I recently graduated with a B.S. in Biology from John Brown University in May and am in the process of figuring out what my next steps are. Following our wedding, Alex and I will be living wherever he gets a job to start out lives together… yay no more long distance!!! Our story is a testimony of the Lord’s goodness and we thank everyone who has been a part of each of our lives and relationship. We are looking forward to celebrating our marriage with you all on January 7th! “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17
