Caroline and Matt’s story began on a gorgeous bluebird spring day at Snowbird in March of 2022. Both Caroline and Matt had separately hoped that they would find the love of their life while skiing, but hadn’t realized it would actually become a reality. Caroline was on a ski trip with friends, Kim and Mark and Mark casually mentioned that his buddy from college was also skiing at Snowbird that day and they should all meet up. With the Utah sun beating down, Caroline, Kim, and Mark set out in bathing suits (and an insufficient amount of sunscreen) for some spring laps and made their way to Mineral Basin with the intent to cross over into Alta. Caroline and Kim got to the top of the lift first and Caroline spotted two guys who had also opted to ski in swim suits that day and Caroline let out her best cat call, playfully shouting “skies out, thighs out” as she skied past them. In the moment, Matt joked to Brenden that he didn’t realize his wife was skiing there that day and she should have mentioned this to him so they could have skied together. When Mark finally caught up he yelled to Caroline and Kim to come back because those guys in swim suits were the guys they were meeting up with. Extremely embarrassed, Caroline sheepishly went over to the group and everyone introduced themselves; Brenden was Mark’s friend from college and Matt was his roommate in New Jersey. Caroline and Matt hit it off immediately and the group skied the whole rest of the day together, and when that wasn’t enough, they all went for a drink in Salt Lake City and continued skiing the next few days together.&nbsp; Since then, Caroline and Matt have made the best of navigating a long distance relationship. They were both working on the east coast when they met, so they went on their first official date in the middle between Connecticut and New Jersey at a pizza joint in Manhattan, unofficially kicking off their ongoing search for the best pizza, though Matt’s homemade pizza has been nearly impossible to top. Caroline visited Matt in New Jersey as frequently as possible, and their first holiday together was Easter of 2022, when Matt introduced Caroline to mountain biking. Matt quickly took a new job within Fidelity and moved to Denver and the distance between them increased from 100 miles to 2,000 miles apart. Caroline took every chance she could to visit Matt there, taking full advantage of frequent work travel to begin and end work trips in Colorado rather than Connecticut. In July of 2023, Caroline finally moved to Denver where the pair bought a condo together.&nbsp; During that time they explored as much of Colorado as they could, skiing at resorts across the state, hiking to countless peaks and alpine lakes, and mountain biking (at different levels) together. Two of their favorite trips took place in the Elk Mountains out by Aspen and Crested Butte, where they backpacked and mountain biked through wildflower fields, enjoyed charcuterie and whiskey at night, and soaked in the incredible mountain views. On one of these trips, a four day backpacking adventure around the Four Pass Loop near Aspen, they experienced some bad weather as they descended toward their camping spot at Snowmass Lake. Torrential rain and hail prevented them from getting a clear view of the lake and Snowmass Peak so they pledged to come back someday for better weather.&nbsp; Their shared time in Colorado was shorter than expected, and only 10 months after moving to Denver, in May of 2024, Caroline moved further west to Utah to pursue a new job with the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth. The distance increased to 500 miles and both Caroline and Matt became more well-acquainted than they’d prefer with the Salt Lake City and Denver airports.&nbsp; Later, in October of 2024, Matt brought Caroline back to Aspen to celebrate her 30th birthday. This time, the weather was perfect when they set out on an 18 mile hike back to Snowmass Lake. With cloudless blue skies and the Elk Mountains adorned with vibrant golden aspen groves, the couple returned to the edge of Snowmass Lake and sitting on a boulder looking up at Snowmass Peak with the whole place to themselves, Matt popped the question, which Caroline enthusiastically answered with a resounding “yes!”&nbsp; After another year of long distance, Matt finally secured a promotion within Fidelity based in Salt Lake City in June of 2025, allowing him to join Caroline living out of his parents’ basement. Though there are worse basements in the world to live out of, Caroline and Matt quickly mobilized into their own apartment in Salt Lake City, from which they continue their adventurous lifestyle. At long last living together, they spend as much time together in the mountains as possible, and on occasion travel back east to visit Caroline’s family and all of their friends who have yet to realize they ought to move to Utah too. Caroline and Matt are so excited to put down roots together and celebrate kicking off this next chapter of their lives with all their friends and family.

Head to Utah's Olympic Park to see the site of the 2002 and 2034 Winter Olympics. Tour the museum, ride the zipline, or test your skills on the bobsled track.

Park City is home to countless beautiful hiking trails, some of Caroline and Matt's favorites are Clayton Peak via Bloods Lake Trail, Charlie's 9000 Foot Trail, and Wasatch Crest Trail. The wildflowers should be in full bloom this time of year!

Stop by the High West Saloon on Main Street for some delicious whiskey cocktails or head to the High West Distillery in Wanship, UT for a tour and tasting.

Book a tee time at the Park City Golf Course and enjoy the scenery of Park City Mountain Resort. Club rentals are available if pre-arranged.

Rent bikes and hit the trails for some mountain biking or stay on the paved bike path and tour around Park City. White Pine is a great place to rent, but there are plenty of other options in town as well.
