"The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." Proverbs 16:9

Our love story is the result of many years of faithful prayer... and a successful blind date set-up.

We grew up in the same hometown, in the same home church, both fully aware of each other's families, and yet had no idea the other existed. With an 8-year age gap and having attended different schools, our paths simply never crossed.

On December 16th, 2024, Grant introduced himself through a sweet and simple text that led to the very first date. After discovering Don Toro was closed on Mondays and Texas Roadhouse had a ridiculous wait, El Fenix received the honor of becoming the birthplace of our love story on December 23rd. It was a 4-hour, non-stop conversation about life, Jesus, our childhoods and careers, before we shut the place down and went our separate ways. But Grant was quick to schedule a second date between Christmas and New Year's. This date lasted about 8 hours and consisted of a stroll around Northpark Mall, dinner at Mimi's, and then a long drive around Dallas looking at Christmas lights during which we talked more in depth about our hobbies, core memories, how many kids we wanted, and our expectations for the future. Once the holidays were over, just before we had to return to real life, we had a third date: breakfast at Cracker Barrel before church. After that breakfast, we walked out to our cars with no idea when we'd see each other again. Before we parted ways Grant asked so where do you want this to go from here? We quickly and eagerly agreed that we both wanted to continue getting to know each other. We were more than just smitten. We were ready to commit to dating long distance.

Grant came back to Greenville for a weekend at the end of January and we essentially hard-launched our relationship by sitting together in church that Sunday morning. Ridgecrest is truly the place where it all began.

For us, 2025 was full of long phone calls, long drives, and as many jam-packed weekends together as we could fit on our calendars. We traveled to visit family and friends, worked our way through each other's must watch movie lists, and truly grew more in love every day. This was the first serious, adult relationship either of us had ever been in. But because we had both committed our singleness to the Lord for a number of years and found such contentment in surrendering to his plan for our individual lives, when he brought us together we just knew it was right. It was evident almost instantly. The invisible string, the creator of the universe, had our relationship as a part of his plan. We were made for each other. There was no confusion, no insecurity. The progression of our relationship has been steady and secure from the very first text.

Our God knows every hair on our heads. He has numbered our days and he orchestrated every detail of our entire lives so that we would meet and fall in love in his perfect timing. Not a moment too soon, not a moment too late. How sweet it is to simply trust in Jesus.

Grant proposed on September 20th, his birthday, at about 7:30 in the morning. The rest of the day was full of surprises and celebrations with both our families and friends and we now couldn't be more thrilled to spend the rest of 2025 celebrating our forthcoming marriage with all of you!

We know that marriage is not eternal. Someday soon, because we have believed and trusted in him as our savior, Jesus will call us home and we will get to spend eternity experiencing the truest marriage: unity between Christ and his church. But as long as he tarries, what a joy it will be to profess his faithfulness and steadfast love through our marriage for the rest of our days!
