Our Story

How They Met

Caroline and Courtland tested the dating scene, but could not seem to find the person that God had planned for them. Both had busy lives and high hopes for finding their perfect match, so they tried the ever-growing world of online dating through an app called Hinge. Caroline's mom, Leah, helped with their fate as she edited Caroline's profile, carefully choosing new pictures. Soon thereafter, Courtland matched with Caroline!

After matching and exchanging a few messages, they quickly realized they had mutual friends who vouched for them and made the connection feel meant-to-be. Their conversations flowed effortlessly, and it didn't take long for them to go on a date.

Their First Date

Their first date was at Copper Premium Pub in Lake Wylie, SC. Courtland complimented Caroline's shoes, they shared stories, laughed, and enjoyed each other's company over delicious food and drinks. They had an immediate, undeniable chemistry. As the evening progressed, they decided to continue their date at a lakeside bar down the street, Papa Doc’s, where they ended the night with a drink and enjoyed live music. They talked until they lost track of time. Courtland drove Caroline home after their wonderful first date and played her Hardy and Lainey Wilson's popular song "Wait in the Truck." He assured her that she could always wait in the truck. They still joke about how cheesy that was to this day.

The Journey Together

From that first date, Caroline and Courtland were inseparable. They spent as much time together as possible, exploring new places and creating beautiful memories. One of the most unforgettable moments was when Courtland invited Caroline to New York City while he was on a business trip. She couldn't resist the opportunity to experience the city with him. They had an incredible day together, solidifying their connection even more. Let's just say after this trip they both learned that their love is priceless.

Not long after, Caroline met Courtland’s entire family at his brother Shane and Jessica's wedding. Soon thereafter, Courtland met Caroline's family as well. After memorizing each of the large families, they quickly felt at home within each family, and it was clear that they were meant to be together.

The Proposal

Courtland surprised Caroline on the Saturday before Easter by proposing in her hometown of Kings Mountain at the park downtown. She was absolutely clueless. She thought they were just getting an Easter dinner with their families, but he had a hidden photographer planned with both of their families and closest friends waiting to celebrate. They gathered at the garden of the Joy Theatre where Caroline's grandfather, Pawpaw Podaras, preached and baptized her when she was a baby. Courtland missed no detail, even having their names up in lights on the theatre marquee (with Leah's help). Courtland's flawless planning along with everyone keeping the engagement a perfect secret made the night so magical.

Engagement Trip

The morning after their engagement, Courtland and Caroline embarked on a trip to Arizona to celebrate and enjoy Flagstaff, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, the Grand Canyon, and Sedona. The trip was a wonderful way to celebrate together and grow even deeper in love while taking in the beautiful sites of the West. The trip ended in Las Vegas where they may have missed a flight home.
