On a warm July evening in 2020, I went out to meet my college friend for drinks on the roof of City Tavern. Little did I know, my life would never be the same after that night. After getting scolded by a bartender for standing in a bar (remember that?) and quite a few adult beverages, I mustered up the courage to ask Caroline for her phone number. I felt like we had hit it off but hey, what did I know? She was way out of my league and it had been months since I met a girl out (due to Covid, I promise I’m not that lame).

After a few weeks, Caroline agreed to meet me out for a date at Hamlet and Ghost. The date was at 7 but you bet your ass I was ready to go by 6 and walking down to the restaurant by 6:30 to ensure I was there first. We had a couple drinks (gin gin fizz shoutout) and went over to city tavern for a nightcap. After getting home, my best man and brother, Sam, asked me how my date went. I was so excited! That was easily the most fun I’d ever had on a first date.

After roughly a year of 6 nights a week at Caroline’s, 1 night by myself, we decided it was time to move into a place together. Through countless laughs, spills, parties and more, the 3 years we have spent at 274 Nelson have been some of the happiest years of my life. And because of that, deciding to marry Caroline was one of the easiest choices too.
