Our Wedding

Kara Lynn Lanpher was born on January 1st, 1992 at Winter Haven Regency as the first baby of the New Year to parents Bob and Amy Lanpher. Bob, from Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, and Amy from Bethlehem, Georgia are high school sweethearts who met at Denison Middle School in Winter Haven. Kara has two sisters, Ashley with husband Andy and Kayleigh with fiance Chase. Niece, Ava, and nephew, Aiden, are important pieces of the puzzle, too! Carter John Adams was born on March 14, 1985 at Winter Haven Hospital to Dan and Trudy Adams, who are Winter Haven natives and high school sweethearts. Carter has son, Jesse, two brothers, Nathan and wife Emma and Chris and wife Brooke with little niece Payton. Our families have known each other for years thanks to a friendship between Kara's sister, Ashley, and Carter's brothers, Chris and Nathan, but their paths didn't cross until 2019 when they met at their favorite wine bar in town. In 2019, Kara returned to the US after living on the island of Grenada for medical school in order to finish up her clinical studies. At the same time, Carter was living in Winter Haven and had just started his own law firm. Both busy and on tight schedules, they matched on Bumble hoping to find someone to have a glass of wine with after work. They met up at Grape Expectations and Carter laughed so much, he just had to ask Kara on another date, which he did before they could even set down their second glass of wine and so they went for their favorite Chinese food across the street. It was a match made in hometown heaven until Kara told Carter she would be moving away soon to finish medical school. They both thought, "Right person, wrong time," but decided to go on another date again the same week and before they knew it they were going to a family wedding for Chris and Brooke, family vacations to Crystal River and the Keys, Sunday Fundays, and more and more dates until the day came that Kara got her letter of placement in New Jersey for the last clinical years of medical school. In August of 2020, Kara hopped in the truck with Uncle Willis to tow her car up to Ocean Grove, New Jersey where Kara would spend a grueling couple of years finishing up medical school during a pandemic, which made visiting each other really tricky! Carter would fly up to visit Kara to explore all that NJ had to offer including corn mazes, pumpkin patches, beaches, mini golf, movies, state parks, speak easies, museums and memorials, and the best BYOB brunches in Asbury Park! They would also go into Manhattan and see all the spots! Kara made trips home to visit as well, especially for special occasions like Emma and Nathan's wedding and Savannah and Rob's! Eventually, Kara finished up in New Jersey and was called to move to Miami for rotations and of course Carter was quick to visit - art and mac n cheese in Wynwood, brunch in Coconut Grove, and a hike to Biscayne Bay lighthouse. So many memories! It wasn't until New Year's Eve 2021 that Carter took Kara to her favorite spot and popped the question on the bridge in the middle of Central Park in Manhattan, that she said YES!
