Carter and Jacqueline met on August 13th, 2023. Carter went to Jacqueline's parents house to play cards, but was unaware he was invited for the sole purpose of meeting Jacqueline. Both families had been trying to get the couple together for some time and they finally succeeded. After an awkward golf tournament where Carter followed Jacqueline around, the two became a couple started dating on September 7th, 2023.

Over the next year, the couple found time for each other between Jacqueline's last year at SMSU and Carter's first year as a 6th grade teacher and coach at RTR. The couple enjoyed golfing together, going for long walks, and spending time with family and friends. They also went to Arizona together with Carter and his family traveling down to watch Jacqueline play golf for her last spring break golf trip.

After Jacqueline finished college in May of 2024, the couple bought a house together in Tyler, MN. The summer went fast and on August 17th, 2024 Carter proposed at the same golf tournament the couple had gotten to know each other at a year prior.
