Our Love Story

Their story began at Midwestern State, where fate quietly brought them together. Carter, new on campus and following the familiar path of friendship, was introduced to Jewel, a collegiate athlete with a radiant spirit. On the very first day, their paths crossed but after that brief introduction, Carter didn’t say much for the next two weeks. Jewel couldn’t help but notice his quiet nature. Was he shy? Or just uninterested? Still, she didn’t give up. Slowly, a friendship began to bloom. Carter found himself drawn to her presence more and more, often choosing time with Jewel over the usual crowd. He’d even ask to be picked up from outings just to hang out with her. One weekend, while Carter was away visiting a friend and Jewel was back home, a bold message was sent from Carter’s phone: “I like you.” It wasn’t written by him but the message still rang true. Her reply? “I like you too.” Though neither had the courage to admit their feelings out loud, the truth was already written between the lines. They both wanted more than friendship Jewel just needed time. Seven months passed in a slow dance of hesitation, filled with growth, missteps, late-night talks, and a deepening bond. By the time summer came, something had changed. Their connection had grown stronger more certain. And on May 22, 2023, at Jewel’s gentle nudge, Carter asked her to be his girlfriend in a way only he could: spelling out “Will you be my GF?” in Skittles on a cake. Though Carter had once declared he’d marry her long before that day, it was Jewel who first said, “I love you.” From that moment on, there was no turning back. Not a single day passed without a phone call, a check-in, or a reminder of how far they’d come. Conversations soon turned toward forever. Quietly and with a full heart, Carter began to plan the proposal. With the help of those closest to Jewel, he orchestrated the perfect surprise. Unknowingly, Jewel had picked the date herself, thinking she was planning a birthday dinner. But beneath the twinkling lights, while she was distracted snapping photos, Carter dropped to one knee behind her. When she turned around and saw him there, everything fell into place. Through joyful tears, she said yes. Now, with hearts full and eyes on forever, Carter and Jewel are joyfully planning their wedding side by side, hand in hand, just as it was always meant to be.
