Carter and Karissa knew of each other growing up. Carter was friends with Karissa’s brothers as they played sports together. Carter and Karissa also rode the same bus. Fast forward many years, Carter and Karissa ran into each other at a bar downtown Berlin one night. After seeing each other that night, Carter reached out to Karissa via Snapchat. A few weeks later, Carter invited Karissa over for a movie night.

After spending lots of time together and getting to know each other more, Carter asked Karissa on their first official “date.” Carter took Karissa to 608 Axe Throwing in Oshkosh on March 29th, 2022. Carter was in charge of keeping score on the whiteboard, however, instead of writing Karissa’s name, he wrote “Carter’s Girlfriend.” Karissa of course said yes!

Carter and Karissa went on a family trip with Carters family to Mexico. Karissa was extra excited as this was her first time seeing the ocean. On the first day of the trip, Sunday, January 14th, Carter asked Karissa if she wanted to go enjoy the beach with a bottle of wine before dinner. Karissa thought nothing of it as Carter had Karissa convinced he was not proposing in Mexico. That night, Carter ordered a bottle of wine to the room and they walked down to the beach just in time for sunset. After sitting there, watching the waves, Carter’s brother in-law, Erich showed up with red roses for Karissa. Carter shared some very kind words with Karissa and got on one knee. Karissa was in complete shock! After saying yes, Carter’s family came out from hiding in the bushes and joined them on the beach. Carter and Karissa then called Karissa’s family back home and shared the happy news.
