Garrett and Casey met on one fateful work trip while working at SkyWest in November of 2021. Garrett working as the First Officer, and Casey as one of the Flight Attendants. They hit it off right away, and exchanged phone numbers. Over the next couple of months they texted and got to know one another, agreeing to a first date on January 11th of 2022.

They continued going on dates and hanging out for a few months after that. Both continuing to learn more about each other, and how similar they are. That being said, there’s a lot to be said about their differences as well, as Casey had never caught a walleye until Garrett taught her how! That fishing trip was a special one as it’s also the trip where they made their relationship official!

2023 was a year of changes! Garrett moved on from being a captain at SkyWest to a First Officer at Delta! And, in the spring/summer of 2023, Garrett went on the hunt for a townhouse. After a few tours, he found one in Apple Valley, MN that he could see himself and Casey calling home. They moved in during mid July, and love living there! Casey has free rein to decorate as she sees fit, so long as Garrett’s hunting and fishing mounts have a permanent place in the basement living room. They also decided to share their home with a new addition, Miso the kitty! Let’s be honest, it’s really just Miso’s house and Garrett and Casey are tolerated to share it with her.

Over the coming years, travel became an important part of their relationship. They decided that they wanted to experience the European Christmas markets, and boy did they fall in love (literally and figuratively)! They went back two years in a row, traveling around France, Germany and Belgium to see some of the different markets. Glühwein is one of their favorite beverages come the holiday season! Among the cold destinations, they also traveled to South Korea, the Bahamas, Mexico, Costa Rica, Alaska, Hawaii, and (many times) to Florida.

Casey’s friends Jackie and Dan have a sailboat that they reside on in eastern Florida. Garrett and Casey made many trips down to spend time with their friends and experience the sailboat life, and this became a favorite trip to take as often as possible. This is why Garrett decided it would be the perfect place to ask Casey to marry him! He planned it all out that he would ask on the bow during sunset. Needless to say, she said YES!

BUS TIMING

My Place Hotel pickup 3:50pm Best Western Plus pickup 4:00pm AmericInn pickup 4:10pm These will be the ONLY pickup times for each hotel. We ask that you please be downstairs and ready to go at your scheduled pickup time! Later in the evening, the bus will run cycles in the top of the hour back to the hotels starting at 8pm.

10 King rooms and 10 Queen rooms have been blocked. King Rate is 189.99  per night plus tax. Queen Rate is 199.99 per night plus tax. All group bookings require a TWO NIGHT MINIMUM. You can book using the link provided or calling.

Rooms are not being held in a block, however, we have secured a discounted rate of 15%. Discount is good for dates of May 14-18, so please remember to adjust dates as wanted through the link provided. You do not need to book full time, but are able to if wanted!

We will have a bus that will travel from a few of the hotels in Grand Rapids to the venue, Barn in the Woods. It’s about a 15 minute drive from Grand Rapids to the venue. There are also a few hotels within walking distance of the selected “bus hotels”, should you prefer a different booking! All are great choices.   Please also keep in mind that there are many cute Airbnbs and VRBOs in the area, too! Lots of which are on lakes, should you like to make a trip out of it. It’s a beautiful area! When looking for those, keep in mind the venue is technically in Bovey, MN.   Parking at the venue is complementary, and guests are welcome to leave cars in the lot overnight.   Timing of buses to come.
