Our Wedding

In true fateful form, Casey and Sarah found their way back to Maine at the same time. In 2020 Casey moved back to his hometown in the Midcoast of Maine, and Sarah, who had spent her childhood vacationing in Rangeley with her family and had many friends from Saint Mikes living in Portland, also decided to uproot her life in Boston and make the move to Maine. Since the world was essentially shut down due to Covid, both Casey and Sarah turned to the dating app Hinge, where they both swiped right on each other. Sarah can recall seeing Casey’s barely-filled-out profile for the first time, with only one real photo of his face, and thinking that even though she had barely any clue who this man was, there was something about him. Something deep in her gut that stuck with her for months, popping up in the back of her mind - don’t let him go. Since Casey was living in the midcoast at the time, Sarah felt bad making him come all the way to Portland for a date. So, they got to know one another better via text for a few weeks, but eventually correspondences faded out. But there was always that nagging thought in the back of Sarah’s mind, telling her to not forget him.&nbsp; Eventually, it would be a chance instagram post that would change the course of their destiny. Sarah had seen that Casey had posted to his story, which he never did. Turns out, it was his friend Andrew Austin who had posted a story that Casey had re-shared - and in that story, it said that Casey had moved to Portland! Sarah immediately took that as an opportunity to kickstart the conversation, and she responded to his story. From that moment on, the rest was history. They had a date set for that weekend, and a few days later on January 16th, 2021, they met for the first time. Little did they know at the time, but that was also the day halfway between their birthdays, and they were born only 1 week apart.&nbsp; In true Sarah fashion, she accidentally went to the wrong coffee shop first and ended up being 30 minutes late to the date. Luckily, Casey stuck it out and was still there when she finally arrived. From there, coffee turned to lunch, lunch turned to dinner, and dinner turned into the rest of their lives. As Casey so lovingly puts it, “We went out for coffee and she never left.”&nbsp; After only having known one another for 3 weeks, they made it official and started dating on a ski trip to Sunday River. There were fireworks (literally).&nbsp; Both Casey and Sarah work from home, so they were able to spend their days working together with Koda in Casey’s apartment, and they continued that daily routine five months later when they officially moved in together. Over the course of the next two years, Casey and Sarah added Goose to the family, had moved into another home across town, and really settled into the Maine lifestyle by becoming the proud parents of 5 chickens. In December of 2023, Casey and Sarah took a vacation with friends Katie and Rich Crowley to a small coastal area of Belize. Casey waited until the opportune moment, when sunshine finally peaked through the clouds, and Sarah was appropriately dressed to go cave-tubing, to pop the question that Sarah had been wanting to hear.&nbsp; Of course, Sarah screamed “YES!”&nbsp; before Casey could even fully get down on one knee. Casey and Sarah can’t wait to recreate this moment, (in hopefully some nicer clothes), and celebrate their marriage on March 1st, 2025, surrounded by their loved ones, in Belize, the place where their forever began.

Belize currency exchange is extremely easy for American visitors as the Belize dollar is locked at $2 Belize = $1 USD, so if something is $20 (BZ$) it is really only $10 (US$). Most accommodations&nbsp;and tours are listed in US$ prices, and most restaurants, shops, etc. are listed in BZ$. Nearly every place readily accepts USD currency. ATMs are also available across the country, particularly in most tourist destinations . Where is Belize Located?Belize is located in Central America and it is bordered to the north by Mexico, to the south and west by Guatemala and to the east by the Caribbean Sea. Belize is a diverse country with various cultures and languages, with one of their primary languages being English. Belize also have the lowest population density in Central America with 35 people per square mile. What is the Geography of Belize?Belize is known for its extreme biodiversity and distinctive ecosystems. It is a part of the Mesoamerican biodiversity hotspot and it has many jungles, wildlife reserves, a large variety of different species of flora and fauna and the largest cave system in Central America. Some species of Belize’s flora and fauna include the black orchid, the mahogany tree, the toucan and tapirs. What is the History of Belize?The first people to develop Belize were the Maya around 1500 B.C.E. As shown in archeological records, they established a number of settlements including Caracol, Lamanai and Lubaantun. The first European contact with Belize occurred in 1502&nbsp;when Christopher Columbus reached the area’s coast. In 1638, the first European settlement was established by England and for 150 years, many more English settlements were set up.In 1840, Belize became a “Colony of British Honduras” and in 1862, it became a British colony. For one hundred years after that, Belize was a representative government of England but in January 1964, full self-government with a ministerial system was granted. In 1973, the region’s name was changed from British Honduras to Belize and on September 21, 1981, full independence was achieved. What Language is Spoken in Belize?English is the official language of Belize, and it is the only English-language-speaking country in Central America. While the official Belize language is English, Belizeans speak the Kriol language and many are also Spanish-speaking. While we would love to have everyone stay with us on-site, there are a ton of other options nearby including air bnbs, other resorts and hotels, private house rentals, and more.&nbsp;Please do what's right for your party, we will just be psyched if you make it for the celebration! Don’t Forget! - Update your passports early! This can take up to 10 weeks in some cases.&nbsp; Getting Here:&nbsp; - Flying into BZE is recommended, we will be providing transport from the airport on arrival days. - When you land, there will be a 1.5 hour drive from the airport to Sirenian Bay. There will be a shuttle from the resort available, or if you prefer to rent a car&nbsp;you can do that right at the airport. - When you arrive at the resort, you will see that there is about a 2 mile stretch along the main road where most resorts and hotels line the ocean. Getting around Placencia is easy, the resort offers bicycles and golf carts to take you in to town or to go explore off-resort.&nbsp;

Ceiba Resort is the Sister Resort of Sirenian Bay which is 2 miles down the road (a quick shuttle, bike ride, or golf cart ride away). The Ceiba will honor both all-inclusive locations, so anyone staying at the Ceiba will also have all-inclusive access at Sirenian Bay so you can use both facilities and dine at both resorts for no extra charge. Both resorts have extended the wedding rate offer to accommodate guests who want to extend their stay. You can book excursion ahead of time or when you arrive onsite.&nbsp; Downtown Placencia is a short distance from the resort and you can get there by Bicycle, Golf Cart, Car, or Shuttle.
