Jake and Casey met on good ole Rocky Top in 2017 during her junior year and his sophomore year of college. They were both involved in the same on-campus ministry, RUF, and had a lot of mutual friends. They crossed paths many times between church, RUF, and the occasional date party (he came to one sorority function as Casey's longtime roommate Blair's date!), but in college they were just friends (who happened to have the same birthday)! Casey moved back to Nashville after graduation in 2019 and started working as a nurse, and Jake continued school in Knoxville. In 2021, he accepted a job with an engineering firm in Nashville. They reconnected when he began attending her church after a mutual friend, Joe, reached out to Casey to ask if she knew of any churches to recommend to Jake. After a few pickle ball games, a halloween party, and a dramatic viewing of the Batman movie, Jake asked Casey out in April of 2022. From the beginning, their connection felt very easy and comfortable. The Lord made it pretty clear to each of them from early on that they had met someone special. They became "official" in June and as time went on they fell in love (awe!) and started thinking and talking about a future together. In early summer of 2023, Jake started making plans, and in July he completely surprised her (with the help of friends and family) by proposing on her back porch in the most thoughtful way. This season has been so celebratory and they have felt so loved on and supported by their community! They can't WAIT to celebrate with you on June 22!
