In December 2021 Cass came home on Christmas break from nursing school. She walked through the doors of her church to serve a Christmas Eve service when her dear friends Robin and Carey bombarded her, claiming she "just had to meet" this guy Andy. Andy was the childhood best friend of Robin's husband Ben. Ben is a man who is not only the worship Pastor at Cass' church, but someone she looks up to like a big brother and admires very much. She figured if Ben had been friends with him for this long, it spoke alot to Andy's character. Cass went into the sanctuary to get a peak of this rumored Prince Charming because he was on stage practicing with the worship team for that evenings service. She realized upon seeing him that she had seen him before and found him handsome only the time she saw him, she wrote him off because he was wearing a ring.
As it turns out Andy was in the process of his divorce and to be fair, Cass was still healing from the ending of an engagement. Though they met that night, it took months (despite their friends hard effort and protests) before they would cross paths again.
In July of 2022, Ben and Robin finally convinced Andy and Cass to go on a double date axe throwing. The rest is history. They were instant best friends from the start. The kind of new love that feels old. The kind that makes you wonder how you ever did life without this person. Cass also instantly fell in love with Andy's boys as if they were her own. A brief pause in their relationship the summer of 2023 lead to deep prayer, resulting in the realization they never wanted to do life without each other and that God had been strategic and intentional in putting them together.
In November of 2023 Andy had been planning to propose to Cass when his grandfather's health took a turn for the worst. Grandpa went into the hospital and Andy felt like it was selfish and inappropriate to ask the love of his life to marry him while his grandfather was dying. Little did he know, Grandpa had one last trick up his sleeve before he left this earth.
On November 25th 2023, Grandpa had come home on hospice and called everyone in around his hospital bed. In front of the entire family he asked Andy "Do you love her?" and "Do you want to marry her?" when Andy said yes, his grandfather told him to do it right then. Grandpa stated that he believed life was short, and everyone deserves someone to be their someone in life. He told Andy and Cass they were each others "someone". He tapped his chest, with tears in his eyes and said "I want to be here to see this, so ask her." So in front of his family, Andy got down on one knee and asked Cass to spend forever with him. She said "YES!".
Andy's grandfather left this earth for heaven on December 2nd but they both hold him and the memory of the night they got engaged close to their heart.
As Andy's grandfather said, "Life is short." We planned our wedding for as soon as reasonably possible allowing our loved ones to be there, especially those who are further away. We couldn't imagine doing our big day without all of you. We look forward to celebrating with each and every one of you!
