Casey and Andrew met in a very modern way—they both swiped right on each other! After matching on Tinder, they exchanged messages for two days before going on their first date on October 22nd, 2023. Casey was immediately impressed that Andrew had actually taken the time to read her profile and suggested a sushi date. Not only did he choose the restaurant, but he also drove 45 minutes to meet her there. The date went so well that by the time it ended, they had already made plans for a second one! Within two weeks and after several more dates, Andrew asked Casey to be official on November 2nd, 2023. From that moment on, they were inseparable.

The couple quickly became accustomed to traveling back and forth between Davis and Rancho Cordova multiple times a week to spend time together. Despite their busy schedules—Casey working as a nurse at UC Davis Medical Center and Andrew as a Math Lecturer at UC Davis—Andrew always managed to plan thoughtful and sweet dates. And don’t worry, Casey planned her share of dates too! From the very beginning, both of them knew this was something serious, and they started introducing each other to their families and friends.

In early January 2024, Andrew shared his plans to visit some friends in Germany, and Casey, who had just returned from a trip there, was eager to give him recommendations. Having grown up traveling to Germany with her family, she had plenty of suggestions. Andrew, noticing how much she loved the country, invited her to join him on the trip. Little did Casey know, this adventure would turn out to be more life-changing than she could ever imagine.

The couple spent the next few months getting to know each other even better by traveling together—an experience that’s truly a test of any relationship! They flew to Arizona twice to visit Casey’s family and to South Carolina for Casey’s birthday. After the first trip through TSA together, Casey made sure to sign Andrew up for TSA PreCheck for a smoother experience in the future! On the second trip to Arizona, Andrew took another big step and asked Casey’s mother for her blessing to propose.

Fast forward to September 2024: after several flight delays and missing an entire day of their trip, Andrew and Casey finally arrived in Germany. The first day of their trip was planned to be special—they were going to pick up Andrew’s friend, Felix, and drive to Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, famously known as the Disney Castle. Casey, a huge Disney fan with Sleeping Beauty as her favorite princess, had visited this castle twice with her family and had many cherished memories there. Andrew knew how much the castle meant to her, and this made it the perfect location for his proposal.

On September 17th, 2024, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Neuschwanstein Castle, Andrew got down on one knee and asked Casey to marry him. Felix, who was there with them, captured the magical moment, turning it into a memory that they will treasure forever. What started as a simple swipe right had now led them to this life-changing moment in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
