All because two people swiped right. Derek and I met each other on Facebook dating. I had tried all the other dating apps and my friend told me to try Facebook dating. So there I was swiping left and right, when I came upon Derek's profile. Immediately swiped right. We talked for a couple weeks until we finally decided it was time to meet in person. We met at the Giant Eagle parking lot in Rootstown and I took him to my favorite spot at Lake Milton that overlooks the lake. We sat in the car because it was FREEZING out and just talked for hours. It was that moment I realized this was the man I was going to marry. We talked for a couple weeks and hung out a couple times until Derek decided to ask me to be his girlfriend on December 17, 2022. It was also my friend's birthday so I told her if we were to ever break up, I would forever despise her birthday! LOL, but he stuck around and on April 6th, 2024, Derek got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Funny thing is, we were celebrating another friend's birthday and I was oblivious to the whole thing, but every one else knew. I blacked out when he got down on his knee and once we got to the car I turned to Derek and asked "You did get down on one knee right?". You never know when you're going to meet your person, but when you do everything else just feels right.

If you are traveling from out of town, or would like to stay in a hotel closer to the venue unfortunately we were unable to get a room block due to the winter graduation at Kent State University. If you would like to stay in a hotel I would book a room now vs closer to the day. Here are 2 hotels I recommend that are 5 minutes from the venue.
