Cass and Joey did not officially meet until May 29, 2023, however, their knowledge of each other first began about six months earlier.

Cass and Joey attended the same wedding of their friends Kelli and Sam VerMeer. Kelli pointed Joey out to Cass, to which Cass responded "eh he's fine" (which if you know Cass, you know this is on brand for her). Over the next six months, Joey and Cass kept hearing about each other from the VerMeers and Stephen and Molly Jennings. Joey grew up with Stephen, and Cass grew up with Kelli. They did not think much of each other given that Cass lived in Texas, and Joey lived in Missouri.

After a few months of name dropping Cass to Joey and a missed blind date, Stephen texted Joey in the middle of the night and told him "Dude, you need to text Cass." The next day, Joey texted Cass for the first time and they have talked everyday since.

Over the next month, Joey began buying Cass dinner and getting it delivered to her front door (from over 400 miles away). Joey found small ways to romanticize their Facetime calls by planning virtual dates where they made their own pizzas, painted by numbers, and made charcuterie boards.

Joey and Cass finally met in person at the end of June and made it official! Over the next few months, Joey and Cass got to know each other better. Cass learned that Joey is a great chef and HATES target pick up orders. Joey learned that Cass struggles to shut car doors softly and would eat out every meal if she could. One of Cass' favorite things about Joey is that he is steady and firm in his faith and values, yet tender and gentle in the way he pursues her and their relationship. One of Joey's favorite things about Cass is that she is a go-getter, and is determined to be her best in all that she does.

Joey and Cass are so grateful for each of you and the ways in which you have shaped them into who they are today. They are so excited to celebrate with you in October!
