November 2018- The very beginning.
Cassie goes camping in a cabin full of boy scouts and leaders. It is the yearly traditional boy scout Thanksgiving campout and Elijah was invited to join the troop for the weekend as a cub scout to be introduced into the troop before becoming a boy scout in February. Here is where Cassie met Nick. Well first Cassie met Jason, Nick's dad, who invited to teach her how to play capture the flag with the boys. As getting ready to head out, Jason says, "Hey Nick are you coming out?" Cassie thinks, ohhh so the cute leader does have a name, it's Nick. The weekend continues and we go our separate ways.
February/March 2019- Cassie becomes more involved in the boy scout troop. The scouts are learning first aid, and alumni and troop leaders are spending time together to teach the boys these new skills. Here is where Cassie and Nick talk some more. An acquaintance/friendship is forming.
July 2019- Gettysburg camping trip with the scouts is a wonderful weekend full of history, lots of walking, and KFC. Here is where Nick and Cassie get to chatting some more, especially on some night walks with the scouts and Mr. Wiencek. I'm still convinced there were definitely ghosts on the battlefield. This is also where Cassie gets bold enough to ask Nick, "So what do you like to do for fun?" Cassie goes back to work early from the trip and chatting starts via Facebook, with some back stories from Gettysburg and a pic of Mr. Wiencek.
August 10, 2019-Our first date was at three different places. First place was Brickstone (RIP), but they closed at 10pm, so we headed over to Sly Fox, they closed at 12am. So finally, we headed to Railroad House which closed at 2am. Clearly we both decided that we were having too good of a time, to have a reasonable first date.
Don't worry, we didn't wait too long to hang out again. Our second date was the very next day.
September 29, 2019-
Nick and I went to dinner, and took a stroll at the museum later that evening. So finally I asked, will you be my boyfriend? And Nick is like "aren't I already? Clearly we've been dating. "And I had to explain to him that he never officially asked me to be his girlfriend. Boy brains....
A few months into dating, things are going pretty well.
April 2020- We added Bagpipe to the family! Nick, James (his old roomie), Elijah and I, wake up early and travel far away to meet Bagpipe at his foster mom's house. We are playing in the yard, and Nick goes I am getting him, well if you know Bagpipe, he barks, a lot, and is loud, so of course that was our first impression of him as well, but he was also very timid and we had to feed him lots of snacks for him to feel comfortable with us right away. So he came home with us that day, and snuggled up with Elijah in the back of Nick's truck home with us forever.
Somewhere between the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021, we basically move in with Nick and his roomie moves out. Sorry but also you are welcome James, lol.
March 2021- Nick sends me boating things, and finally I found one on marketplace. Nick does some research, we take a long far away trip, look at the boat, and bring it home with us. And if you know Nick, you know he lovesssss being on the water all times of the year, so this was a huge part of our lives together.
October 2022- We decided to buy a new camper together! We love weekend adventures camping, especially camping weekends that are near water, that we can camp and boat for a fun trip!
December 2022- We added Diesel to the family! Nick decided it would be a wonderful idea to put on his family's Christmas exchange list: "I double dog dare you to get me a real dog." So on Christmas Eve, during gift exchange time, we met Diesel for the first time and brought him home with us on Christmas Day! Bagpipe and Diesel became quick friends/brothers and now love to play and bark together, especially on camping, hiking, and boating adventures.
April 22, 2023. We were on a weekend camping and hiking trip. Nick, Elijah, Christian, Alison and Chris, Bagpipe and I, went to Ricketts Glen State Park.
Throughout the day, and long trails with beautiful waterfalls, we hiked to a spot where unfortunately the trail was closed, but we decided to stop there and eat lunch. After lunch of course Nick persuaded me that he found a cool spot for some picture taking (when it comes to picture spots in easily persuaded). To my surprise is he got Elijah, Christian, and Chris all in on it and they were ready to capture the most magical moment! With Elijah close by and Bagpipe by his side, Nick got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, and of course I said yes!
We hiked the rest of the way back to the campsite and celebrated with some champagne and a night full of fun and games.
