How We Met

Cassandra and Jay met at Western Kentucky University. They both lived in the Stonewall Suites LLC on campus. While they knew of each other, their bond started blossoming at a Halloween party. The LLC was playing a game that combined "never have I ever" and musical chairs. By the end of the party, the game turned into one that started like "stand up if." After some others had done it, Jay, being the jokester he is asked the group to "stand up if you find me attractive." Clearly, the future bride found the future groom at least a little attractive, so she stood up (along with quite a few other people).

The two lovebirds quickly became friends. Some may say love at first sight is not real, but they felt a connection very early on. Jay was with Cassandra as she got out of an unhealthy relationship, building her confidence and being a shoulder to cry on. He helped Cassandra become herself again, as their friendship grew, they started falling for each other.

U-hauling It

After her breakup, Cassandra's ex was unable to pay rent and was evicted. Jay stepped up and became her roommate so she would not have to shoulder all of the financial burden of apartment living, but also, the two had fun together. Listening to music, playing board games, cooking, and watching TV together.

As is known in the lesbian community, moving in together before/early on in a relationship is known as "U-hauling". Fun fact: Jay did in fact drive a U-Haul to move in.

The Early Byrd's

Early into their relationship, they both had a passion for traveling. Spring break after they got together, they went to Florida. Spending time at the beach, kayaking, hanging out with a long-distance friend of Jays, and yes birdwatching. Be sure to ask the groom about almost getting eaten by an alligator.

Their love for traveling continued. They visited Chaney's Dairy Barn, Lost River Cave, and other sites in Bowling Green. They didn't stop there heading to Kings Island for their six months, and later to Pittsburgh to meet Cassandra's family and tour the city.

The honeymoon phase was just that, traveling and enjoying each other's company.

Migration

Now we have been together for over two years, and we still travel, but we have domesticity, consistency, and stability in day-to-day life. We continue to lift each other up. We are not sure what the future holds, but we know we will tackle it together.
