It's hard to believe it didn't happen sooner. Cassia and Matt had probably seen each other a million times before they got together. For months they would see each other at church and at the climbing gym, but it wasn’t until Cassia invited Matt to climb with her that they had their first real conversation. Days later Matt asked Cassia to join him and his friends on a climbing trip to Pilot mountain where they quickly became friends. On the way home from the mountains Cassia was thinking about how much she enjoyed spending time with Matt while Matt was thinking Cassia had great taste in Disney original musicals. Matt asked Cassia out on their first date the very next day. They then spent the summer going to museums, playing Monopoly, watching concerts, exploring the beach, and eating at the Olive Garden. In the fall Matt journeyed with Cassia to Pennsylvania to meet her family, and Cassia did the same that November while spending Thanksgiving with Matt and his family in Tennessee. The following year they spent the holidays together, competed as a team in multiple climbing leagues, and went on a few more trips before Matt talked with Cassia’s mom about his plans to propose in the near future. Cassia’s family was excited about the proposal and everyone thought Thanksgiving would be the perfect time since their families were already planning to celebrate together at the beach. Before the holiday Matt made secret arrangements at the Fort Fisher Aquarium to stay after hours and ask Cassia to marry him. After admiring the sharks and sea life Matt asked the question and Cassia said yes! Now Matt and Cassia are excited to be getting married and thrilled to be joined by those who are closest to them!
