This part of Colorado is beautiful and a particular tourist hot spot due to the Aspen trees that change color from late September to mid-October. Due to the elevation, snow can come unexpectedly early. It would be smart to dress for colder weather and bring layers just in case. The temperature is generally between 56-68 degrees during October and our ceremony will be outside.
What kind of wild life is in Estes Park?
It is not uncommon for The Landing to have unexpected visitors! This area has been known to have bob cats (seen by the bride and groom during a visit!), herds of elk, and bears coming through! Please do not approach or attempt to interact with the wild life. The elk are large and particularly dangerous at this time of year because it is their mating season. Please don't be that guy who approaches the elk for a photo :)
Should I know anything about the elevation?
Estes Park is at 7,522 feet of elevation. While we will be surrounded by gorgeous scenery, this also means that it is easier to get dehydrated. Make sure you drink plenty of water and take care to consume alcohol at a reasonable pace (it's also a lot easier to get drunk!). For some people, increased elevation can cause nosebleeds and trouble breathing. Many stores in Colorado offer cans of oxygen that can be helpful to have if you're concerned for any reason.
Is there anything else that I should know?
There is currently a lot of ongoing construction in the main street area of Estes Park! Be aware of this when traveling and plan to leave early for the wedding ceremony!
