Our Wedding

Our love story from the perspective of Griffin:The story of Cassidy and I starts off pretty boring and mildly funny. At a mutual friend's house, Cassidy and I would spend one night a week during the fall of 2017 watching a movie with 3-4 other friends. We both were living our own lives as Cassidy was just starting college, and I was in the fourth year of a five-year college experience. Cassidy was in season for soccer, and I was just starting my weight cut as my college wrestling season was about to start. Neither of us were looking for anything, but there was a definite spark about our friendship. Over the next few months, I finally built up the courage to ask Cassidy on a date. Cassidy happily accepted and we started seeing each other for the next few weeks. As things started to get more serious, I decided that I wanted to be pretty dumb and end things with Cassidy. Cassidy was very hurt by this and after about a week, I invited Cassidy over to my house to discuss the relationship. During this conversation, I admitted that I wasn't very smart and shouldn't have ended things. I even confessed how I truly felt about Cassidy. After being warned multiple times by Cassidy to not make things official on a couple of specific days, I finally asked Cassidy to be my girlfriend on April 3rd, 2018. April 3rd just so happens to be a day Cassidy asked to not be a day to make things official because it is her dad's birthday. This pattern of making life decisions on loved ones’ birthdays continued, and just over three years later, I decided that I wanted to make Cassidy my wife. As I began thinking of dates, I tried to work around wrestling season. The day that I was going to propose ended up not working due to the unfortunate death of my Uncle Randy. I continued to think of another time to propose, but really couldn't think of the perfect time. It then occurred to me that the perfect time would be when Cassidy's entire family was together for her brother's birthday celebration. After talking with her brother and mother, I made arrangements to propose in the family barn that her older sister, brother, and cousin were married in. On the evening of March 6th, the day after her brother's birthday, I dropped to one knee and proposed. Of course, Cassidy said yes and the planning began. Cassidy's grandparents mean the world to her. Their love, kindness, and belief in Christ has inspired her life, so we decided to honor them by choosing a date of significance. Cassidy's grandparents, Larry and Charlotte Eilts, were married on September 17th, 1966. On the same day, 56 years later, Cassidy and I will speak our vows and unite our lives in marriage.
