Ryan and I met at work at United Vaccines, Inc in 2013. At that time, I was working in the packaging and labeling department and he was a lab technician. I always knew him as this obnoxious guy who seemed to me that he would eat anything in the world on a dare. That's about all I knew about him then.
About 6 months later, we both got placed on the same rotation at work. It was an usual rotation that followed a 50 hour cycle for one of our machines. Some days we would start at 7:00 am, and others we would start at midnight. It was during this rotation, that I really started to get to know Ryan and at first I honestly couldn't stand the guy. But over the next couple months with him, he started to grow on me and I learned how sweet and caring he actually was.
A group of us went out on Memorial Day in 2014 to have some drinks. One drink turned into seven and before I knew it, I was done. Ryan called me a cab and I asked him if I could go home with him. The weeks that came after that night were interesting to say the least. I had told Ryan that I didn't want a boyfriend, and yet, I somehow kept calling and texting him and wanting to hang out with him.
We officially started dating at the end of July 2014 and the rest is history. I consider myself extremely lucky to have Ryan in my life and I don't know what I would do without him. He puts up with my crap day and night, and the best part is that he does it with a smile on his face. I love him so so much and I can't wait to be his wife.
I still remember the first day that Cassie and I worked together. I heard about the new girl, but due to my odd schedule I had not yet had the pleasure of working with her. Lucky for me, I got an opportunity to work in Packaging and Labeling with her in her second week. I am pretty sure that I talked too much, made a fool out of myself, and ate more food than was normal. I guess you could say that not much has changed.
From our first interactions, I learned that Cassie had a boyfriend and I pushed my thoughts to the back of my mind, not that I would have made a move anyways. Soon enough, Cassie was assigned to the same odd schedule that I was on, and I really got to show off my personality! I am pretty sure she loved every minute of work with me (just kidding). A few months in, and I learned some interesting news, and Cassie was not seeing her boyfriend.
Soon after the good news, a group of us decided to celebrate the long weekend at Memorial Union. We had a stack of empty pitchers about as tall as Cassie, and I finally had the confidence to tell Cassie my feelings. The night went well and ended with some Old Fashioneds and cheese curds, and somehow we ended up at my place.
Cassie was looking forward to being independent and single, but I found a way to spend as much time with her as possible. After some persistence, and continual annoyances she asked me if I wanted to be her boyfriend. Our first official date was at our favorite local restaurant, The Vintage. She had to pay me back since I barely had the money for it. I knew this was the girl for me after that.
The time after those early days are a blur of fun times, and good food. Cassie is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I look forward to every day with her. She has helped me learn more about myself, and continually challenges me to be better. I am excited to be her husband and spend the rest of my life by her side.
