Cassie and Alec first met the summer of 2014, when Cassie's friend's threw her a surprise 17th birthday party in Del Mar, California. Some mutual friends brought Alec to the birthday party and Cassie still remembers the first time she saw Alec there- immediate crush. The two hit it off, hung out that summer and talked constantly.

They were both going into their senior years of High School, Cassie at Torrey Pines High School and Alec all the way in Kansas City, Missouri to play for a hockey club. They remained friends and saw each other any time they could during Alec's breaks from hockey.

Cassie decided to go to college in Michigan after High School (Go Blue!) and Alec played another year of club hockey to prepare for Junior Hockey League in Canada. They talked daily and couldn't wait for summer to roll around so they could reunite. Soon enough, 2 days into summer of 2016 and they were (finally) officially dating.

Cassie and Alec did long distance dating throughout their college years, flying to Canada, Philly (where Alec played college hockey), Michigan, Chicago and more to see each other on the weekends. Cassie memorably took 6 flights in one weekend just to see Alec for 48 hours in Canada; I guess distance really does make the heart grow fonder! Although they had to travel far at times, it only made them cherish the time they did have together even more. Also, shout-out to FaceTime.

Alec and Cassie both moved back to California after college and were finally in the same time zone for good. From backpacking, surfing, mountain biking, roadtripping in their Volkswagen Vanagon and catching every sunset possible, they earned the name "Professional Recreators". No matter what they are doing, as long as they are together they are having the best time. They truly feel like they hit the lottery in life with each other.

Alec proposed to Cassie while watching the sunset in one of their favorite hiking spots with a bottle of wine and it couldn't have been more perfect. They are beyond excited to keep adventuring through life together and for all of the joy to come. They cannot wait to celebrate with their amazing family and friends on August 31, 2024!
