Our Wedding

Allow me to take you back to 2016, where the 2 were attending college at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, Cassie asked JJ to her formal with a text reading “On a scale from 1 to America, how free are you to go to formal with me?” JJ responded with “I’m a bald eagle.” It was at that formal dance that Cassie and JJ realized that their lives would be melded together forever. Cassie, being on the dance line for LA Tech, decided she would challenge JJ to a dance-off, where she was put to shame by JJ’s impeccable skills (not at all what happened). JJ realized that night that this would be the last time he would be going to either of their formals with anyone other than each other. After leaving the dance, the two finished the night off by listening to music, laughing, and talking about life. From then on, the two were inseparable, whether it was parties that JJ had to plan for his fraternity, beach trips, continued dance-offs at the Rev, or helping Cass to study for a Spanish test. After some time, JJ invited Cass to a dinner at his house where he would cook her favorite food, fajita tacos with all the works, and where he would ask her to be his girlfriend. A year later, JJ would ask Cass if she would like to be “dropped/lavaliered,” a formal ceremony involving his fraternity brothers which involved offering a pendant, roses, and a song that sings of her importance to him. Cassie accepted the pendant and they continued traveling down the road that would lead to a “forever yes.” Eventually came graduation for Cassie, where the two would start the most challenging time in the relationship, long distance. JJ returned to Shreveport where he would pursue his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, while Cass moved to Dallas where she would move upwards through the ranks of Supply Chain Management for Amazon. The two traded weekends of visiting each other, making sure to call on lunch breaks, after workouts, while cooking, etc. The two knew that distance wouldn’t be the end of a relationship destined to end in eternal happiness, and were determined to prove it.&nbsp; Now comes the part of the story you have been reading for, the engagement. With the aid of Cassie’s cousin, Callie, as well as her best friend Haley, they planned what would become a beautiful memory for the two. Cassie and JJ departed from Shreveport, LA to Longview, TX together to what she thought was a graduation party for her brother, Jacob at a winery that the two had been to at a previous anniversary dinner. Little did she know it would be where JJ would take the knee and express his desire to spend the rest of his life with her. Friends and family waited in anticipation, hidden in a building across from the restaurant but able to see the moment. The two entered the dining hall where a clueless waitress stated “if you two are here for the engagement, you need to go hide in the building across the way.” JJ, sweating like a stuck pig behind Cass, held his breath and Cass unknowingly and confidently stated “no we’re here for my brother’s dinner party.” JJ thanked the Lord and his lucky stars for the smooth break he received and cursed the waitress in his head. JJ walked her out to the balcony, where he told her to walk down the stairs to the part of the balcony outlooking the vineyard, got down on one knee, and asked her if she would spend the rest of her life with him. After what seemed to JJ like an eternity of laughter and giddiness, Cassie said yes, and they have since-then been planning a night that the two, and you, the reader and guest will remember forever.&nbsp; They thank you immensely for being an influential part of their lives, and are excited to share their new chapter with you for as long as you will put up with them.&nbsp;
