Our Story

Cat and Josh met the old fashioned way: Tinder. After some light banter about who will ultimately win "Succession" and the merits of Cat's native Allegany County's nascent campaign to secede from Maryland for the redder pastures of West Virginia, Josh asked Cat to get drinks at Barcelona Wine Bar in DC. When the day came, Cat nervously arrived 10 minutes early, and proceeded to wait while Josh showed up 25 minutes late. (In his defense, parking in DC is impossible; in hers, he should've at least made a reservation)

After a few weeks of casually dating, primarily in the form of a sushi tour across greater Arlington, Josh asked Cat to join him at Max (best man) and Chelsea’s wedding in Mexico. After some measured deliberation, Cat responded for the simple and logical reason of YOLO.

During this trip, Josh and Cat realized they were pretty compatible and actually liked each other. Moreover, they proved to be an adept team at the wedding afterparty they hosted in their suite: Josh keeping the noise below eviction levels and Cat consoling a bawling guest who'd had a few too many.

Shortly after that trip, Josh asked Cat to officially be his girlfriend.

The couple’s next big milestone was Cat meeting Lizzy, Josh’s then-4 year old daughter. The introduction took place at Dave & Busters, where Lizzy proudly showed off her skeeball skills and even let Cat score some air hockey points. Their relationship continued to blossom ever since, with constant giggle sessions and allied in the goal of trying to keep Josh humble.

Josh and Cat’s next challenge came with the neverending renovation of their house. For four months, they were kitchen-less and ate every meal either at a restaurant or on a cardboard box 'table' in the garage. When their bedroom was demolished down to the studs, Cat and Josh set up a makeshift bedroom in the basement affectionately referred to as "the lair." Such humble quarters brought them even closer, with the true test being their new puppy Tommy regularly marking such territory as his own. A few months later, Cat did the same and formally moved in, leaving DC for the quieter streets of Falls Church.

Fast forward nearly a year, with their house (mostly) completed and their love ever growing, it was time for the next step. Following a day of wine tasting in St. Emilion, France, Josh told Cat he arranged for one final tasting right outside the medieval city. Walking through the vines, their guide suggested they stop for a photo, at which point Josh got down on one knee...
