Our story began many years ago. It was the fall of 2016 and Catelyn was bartending at Big League Dreams where Sammy frequently visited to play softball. They developed a flirtatious friendship, had a brief fling, but then went their separate ways.

Now fast forward to March 2021. They were both getting out of relationships and weren't exactly looking yet both ended up scrolling Tinder. After both swiping right and matching, Sammy messaged Catelyn and the two were reconnected. Sammy asked Catelyn for her number and took her on their first date. They went bowling then out on his friend's boat onto Lake Grapevine with half of his softball team. Yes, on the first date, lol. But after that and a failed friend zone attempt on Sammy's part, the two became inseparable and knew they found their person.

They moved in together in October 2021 and started building their little life together. In April 2022, Sammy got a quick career promotion he could not refuse. But with this position, came a relocation surprise. They were moving to San Diego! Sammy went first and found an apartment for them. Catelyn only had a month left of the school year so she stayed back to finish, packed up the house into storage, and was ready to go when Sammy came back in June to get her. The two of them, and Myla, set off and drove to their new home in California.

Sammy knew from there that he wanted to propose while they were in California. He FaceTimed her whole family, asking for their permission (he told her he was FaceTiming a buddy of his so she suspected nothing). They were able to fly home for Father's Day in June 2023 to visit his family. The guys went golfing and the girls went to get their nails done and go shopping. Catelyn was tasked with finding Sammy a new swim suit so his mom could sneak off and pick up the ring that he picked out and ordered. His whole family knew what his plan was so everyone knew it was a decoy to keep Catelyn busy and to make sure her nails were done. About a week later, back in California, Sammy asked a buddy to take some pictures of them on the beach at sunset. July 3, 2023 he proposed and Catelyn very excitedly said yes!
