Mye spent her early years in sunny Thailand until the age of 13, when she swapped tropical heat for Irish drizzle and moved to Cork. With little to no English, she tackled a brand new country, school system, making new friends and the Cork accent — arguably the hardest of the four!!
After excelling her way through Secondary School Mye then began her degree at University studying Business Administration, which set her up nicely to start her first career in Cork City Council.
Cathal, meanwhile, was born and bred in Omagh, County Tyrone — a true Irish lad with a love of all things GAA, Irish music and dance. After dancing his way all over the world he finally hung up the dancing shoes in early 2018, to pursue his new career in aviation and moved his life down to Cork.
The couple met in August 2019. Sparks flew and they quickly bonded over their shared love of good food, road trips and binge watching a good TV Series.
After a few years of long-distance — made up of airport goodbyes, glitchy video calls, and debating who should travel next — they finally decided it was time to set up base somewhere together. That somewhere turned out to be Manchester, where they have just bought their first home together and are now busy learning about DIY, assembling IKEA furniture, and figuring out whose turn it is to put the bins out.
We can’t wait to celebrate our big day with all of you — the people who’ve supported us, believed in us, laughed with us, and maybe even given us a lift to the airport once or twice.
