Our Story

Catherine and I met our sophomore year of college in 2014. I had forgotten who she was, which I will never be able to live down. We re-met on February 9th, 2017. We instantly had a connection and didn’t want the night to end. After a few days of texting, Catherine invited me to watch the bachelor, a show I am still yet to get into, with her friends and sister. After that night we went on our first official date to, of course, Rio. It was then that she told me that in 2 weeks she would be leaving to go study abroad in Spain for 2 months. Realizing how different and special Catherine was I said, “We will cross that bridge when we get to it.” I knew all I wanted to do was spend time with her when I was able to. While she was away, we talked constantly. Catherine came back from Spain, and told me that she would be moving to Tacoma, Washington in a month for 2 years. I said, “We will cross that bridge when we get to it.” That month was amazing, constantly hanging out, trying to get as much time together as we could. In that month we decided to become more than friends and try a long distance relationship. She left; we were both intensely sad. Everyone around us talked about how hard it was going to be. We talked constantly on the phone. We FaceTimed every day, wrote letters, visited every two months, and decided one day a weekend we would dedicate to the other and spend all day on Saturday or Sunday talking/ watching movies. We would decide what movie we wanted to watch and say 3, 2, 1 and start it, so that we could watch the same thing together. It was a hard two years, but she came back and now we spend every waking moment together. It was a little scary when she was coming back; we had been long distance for so long. Could we make it work when we are together? Obviously we did, and on August 8th, 2020, exactly one year and 5 days since she moved back (Chris why did it take so long), I asked Catherine to spend the rest of her life with me. And now we are counting down the days to our wedding and looking forward to a lifetime of happiness together.
